About Us

Okamoto Shoten Co., Ltd. consistently handles product planning, manufacturing, wholesale, and retail, focusing on apparel and fashion accessories, centered around "Kurume Kasuri," a Japanese Important Intangible Cultural Property with a history of approximately 200 years.

We are a company that conducts wholesale sales, operates 8 directly managed stores, and sells through online stores and special events, primarily with our own brands "Giemon," "Giemon," and "Giemon" (different spellings for the same brand name).

Kurume Kasuri and the Background of Our Dream

Kurume Kasuri is a textile born in Chikugo, southern Fukuoka Prefecture, and has been passed down for over 200 years.

Its unique texture, created by dyeing the threads first and then weaving them according to a pattern, has the characteristic of becoming more comfortable against the skin with wear and being cherished for a long time.

However, currently, Kurume Kasuri is often perceived as something to be worn on "special occasions" or by "a limited number of people."

The reality is that it has not yet become an item that can be easily picked up and worn continuously in daily life.

We are advancing various initiatives to transform Kurume Kasuri from a "special garment" into an "everyday garment."

Wearing a piece for many years, its texture growing richer, passing it down from parent to child.

Such an accumulation of time.
