Odol Launches 30-Day Artist-in-Residence Project at Saion House in Naha, Okinawa

Odol LLC, based in Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture and led by representative Kosuke Shibata, announced the launch of a 30-day artist-in-residence project at Saion House, a monthly stay base in Naha, Okinawa, starting May 14, 2026. The project features Taichi Sugawa of Samurai Kid Films, a creator whose work centers on video. From May 14 to June 14, he will stay at Saion House and document his creative process, encounters with the city, and the emotions and changes that emerge along the way through podcasts, video, Note, and social media in real time. The project is titled “30days Room to Begin - SAION HOUSE -.” During the stay, Sugawa will regularly record remote sessions with project initiator Kosuke Shibata, connecting Okinawa and Shonan. The first episode was recorded on move-in day and has been published through the newly opened account. According to Shibata, Saion House is a monthly stay base located near Kokusai Street in Naha, Okinawa, designed for stays of 30 days or longer. It is neither a hotel nor a simple rental apartment, but a place between “staying” and “living,” offering an experience that connects guests gently with the local city. The artist-in-residence project explores the theme of what a person feels and creates over the course of one month. It is being developed as an experimental project that records and shares the stay itself. Rather than focusing only on completed works, it seeks to find value in the process: uncertainty during production, personal changes, and chance encounters with the city. Saion House is a special one-room monthly apartment near Kokusai Street in Naha, Okinawa, intended for stays of at least 30 days. It includes furniture, appliances, high-speed Wi-Fi, a work desk, kitchen, washing machine, and bathroom, and proposes new styles of staying such as workations, creative residencies, and dual-location living.
