Odakyu Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President: Shigeru Suzuki) held its 2026 entrance ceremony on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the Romancecar Museum (Ebina, Kanagawa), welcoming a total of 104 new employees. On the same day, the company is advancing initiatives to create a more worker-friendly environment for each employee, including the introduction of a system to support housing and the enhancement of wellness measures.
Our company places the creation of value for the local community at the core of its management and defines "value-creating talent" as the human resource profile to achieve this. Together with our new colleagues, we aim to continue challenging existing concepts to provide even greater "value" to the local community and grow together with the region.
President's Address (Excerpt)
To all new employees, congratulations on joining Odakyu Electric Railway and on your new start as members of society. I am truly delighted and encouraged to welcome 104 of you as new colleagues today. On behalf of the company, I extend a heartfelt welcome. You are taking your first steps into your professional lives in an era of great transformation, marked by fluctuating international affairs, a declining birthrate and aging population, and advancements in digital technology and AI. In the times ahead, companies will be required to constantly ask themselves, "What should we change, and what must we not change?"
Odakyu Electric Railway will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2027, but this is merely a milestone in our history. Our foundation is "safety," the core and mission of our railway business. The daily efforts of our frontline staff to maintain the ordinary, no matter the circumstances, have built customer trust and the company's foundation.
Furthermore, our company has always embraced the challenge of change. The Romancecar Museum, where this entrance ceremony is being held, symbolizes this journey. The history of the Romancecar, born from constantly considering "what kind of value we want to deliver to our customers" in each era, tells the story of Odakyu's spirit of challenge—returning to our roots in both good times and bad to create new value.
Currently, with Shinjuku as our starting point, Odakyu Electric Railway is working to create new value by combining railways, urban development, and lifestyle services, connecting the attractions of Hakone, Enoshima, and various locations along our lines. The stage on which you will perform is not just a railway company. It is a job of creating the "future of the city" in the rich and wide field of the areas along our lines. With the Odakyu message "Thinking of someone, today as well" in your hearts, please support each other and build your own unique growth step by step. I am delighted that we can walk together towards the next 100 years. Once again, congratulations on joining the company today.
