Octopus Energy, ranked No. 1 in growth rate for 2024 among the top 30 electricity companies [1], is launching a new pricing plan for EV (electric vehicle) owners called "Omakase EV Octopus".

This pricing plan supports reducing the burden of EV charging electricity costs by having our company optimally control EV charging during affordable time slots, to the greatest extent possible, while meeting the user's desired charging completion time and desired charging rate.

To make EV owners' lifestyles even greener and more affordable, we are now finally launching this service nationwide as a commercial offering [2].

Initially, we will begin offering the service to existing customers who own Tesla vehicles, and will subsequently expand the range of eligible vehicle models and begin accepting new applications.

The top 30 companies refer to the top 30 companies by total low-voltage lighting electricity demand in 2025. The growth rate is calculated by subtracting 1 after dividing the total low-voltage lighting electricity demand in 2025 by the total low-voltage lighting electricity demand in 2024. For Octopus Energy, the growth rate compared to 2024 is 63%. [2] Nationwide service area, excluding Okinawa Prefecture.

Making EV Charging Simpler and Smarter

As EVs become more widespread, interest in charging costs is increasing. On the other hand, customers have had to manage their charging timing themselves to take advantage of times when electricity prices are low.

By switching to this pricing plan, users will no longer need to consciously manage their EV charging operations based on the time of day, literally allowing them to "leave it to Octopus Energy" for their EV charging.

New Service Evolved from "EV Octopus"

This pricing plan adopts the same time-of-use pricing structure as our "EV Octopus 2026-04" plan, and is characterized by having affordable time slots not only at night but also during the daytime.

Towards the Realization of Next-Generation Energy Systems Using EVs

EVs are expected not only as a means of transportation but also as energy resources that contribute to improving the flexibility of the overall power system. Since market prices for electricity are often suppressed during times when renewable energy supply is abundant, by having many customers utilize pricing plans and services that leverage technology and data, such as "Omakase EV Octopus," green electricity will be utilized without waste, contributing to the dispersion of electricity demand and the effective use of renewable energy.

We will continue to aim for the realization of a more affordable and greener energy system through the provision of innovative services.
