TG Octopus Energy Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter Octopus Energy) is pleased to announce that Hidehiro Nakagami has been appointed as President and CEO, effective April 1, 2026.
Octopus Energy began its service in 2021 as a joint venture between the British energy tech company Octopus Energy and Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. In the Japanese market, it has promoted the spread of renewable energy, provided electricity at fair prices, and achieved high customer satisfaction, leading to significant business growth with over 560,000 contracts. Under this new structure, based on these values, we will further accelerate our efforts toward realizing a sustainable energy society through the further evolution of our technology-driven power services.
**Comment from the New President:**
I am humbled by the great responsibility of assuming the role of President and CEO, and I am deeply honored to be able to take on the challenge of transforming Japan's energy market and delivering various values to many customers.
Japan's energy market currently faces three challenges: promoting decarbonization, ensuring a stable energy supply, and securing prices that customers can use with peace of mind. Especially in Japan, which has a high dependence on overseas resources, expanding renewable energy is an important theme not only from an environmental value perspective but also from the viewpoints of stable energy supply and price stability.
We intend to tackle these challenges one by one, and while providing the energy and services that our customers demand, we want to pave the way for the future of energy in Japan.
Octopus Energy has been transforming energy markets in various countries around the world with its strengths in technology and customer-centric services. We want to expand that value in Japan as well, providing customers with a new energy experience through simple and transparent power services. We will continue to deepen our collaboration with companies and local communities to contribute to the expansion of renewable energy use and the realization of a sustainable energy society.
