Ocean Acquires ISO/IEC 27001 Certification, Establishing International Standard Information Security System

Ocean Inc. This certification marks Ocean's second third-party certification, following the acquisition of Privacy Mark (P-mark) certification in December 2025. With this, Ocean has established a dual certification system that satisfies both domestic standards specializing in personal information protection (JIS Q 15001) and international standards covering all information assets (ISO/IEC 27001), elevating its overall information security system to an international level.

Looking ahead to the tax exemption system reform in November 2026, Ocean will continue to provide an environment where affiliated stores and inbound tourists can use its services with greater peace of mind.

Background of ISMS Certification Acquisition

As a business handling tax exemption information for foreign visitors to Japan, Ocean has positioned information security as one of its top management priorities since its establishment.

In December 2025, Ocean obtained Privacy Mark certification based on domestic standards for personal information protection (JIS Q 15001), establishing a management system for appropriate handling of personal information of inbound tourists and affiliated stores.

Anticipating the tax exemption system reform in November 2026 and business expansion, Ocean determined that a broader information security management system, beyond just personal information protection, was necessary. Consequently, it promoted the establishment of an ISMS based on the internationally recognized ISO/IEC 27001, covering all information assets, leading to the current certification. This completes a dual third-party certification system of P-mark (personal information protection) and ISO/IEC 27001 (all information assets), elevating the overall information security system to an international level.
