From “Delivering Healthcare” to “Healthcare Without Awareness”—O-Gai’s Challenge

We support the April Dream project, which aims to make April 1st a day to share dreams.

This press release is the dream of “O-Gai Holdings Inc.”

O-Gai Holdings Inc. (Headquarters: Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture) is working to build a medical infrastructure centered on dental technology, medical MaaS, corporate dental checkups, and the utilization of oral data, with the goal of realizing a society where the “existence of healthcare is not consciously felt.”

In addition to existing medical services such as outpatient, home-visit, and online care, we are advocating for an evolution from “delivering healthcare” to a stage where “healthcare is not consciously felt,” challenging ourselves to create a new form of medicine centered on prediction and prevention.

We have a dream.

It is to create a world where healthcare is no longer something special.

And another:
To realize a society where the number of people suffering from illness approaches zero.

This press release is a dream shared by us, as we resonate with the April Dream project and seek to make April 1st a day filled with dreams, which we will eventually fulfill.

■ It all started with the reality of “not being able to eat”
Our origin is the reality that “there are people who cannot eat.”

Not being able to chew or swallow is not merely an inconvenience.

It leads to deteriorating nutritional status, loss of physical strength, and even strips away one’s connection to others.

However, in reality, there are challenges such as:
- Dentures not reaching those who need them
- A decline in the number of dental technicians
- A lack of continuous care

That is why we are working to “increase the number of people who can eat properly” by restructuring the dental technology system.

■ But healthcare only saves “those who can get there”
While facing the reality on the ground, we noticed another barrier.

It is the reality that “healthcare is not reaching people.”

Geography, transportation, physical limitations—there are people who cannot access healthcare for various reasons.

That is why we are aiming for “healthcare that reaches everyone” by combining all possible means, such as:
- Outpatient, inpatient, home-visit, and online medical care
- Medical MaaS (Medical Mobility as a Service)
- On-site implementation of corporate dental checkups

■ Yet, there are still “people left behind”
However, no matter how much we deliver healthcare, there are still people left behind.

These are the people who are “indifferent” to healthcare.

Whether due to busyness, personal values, or information gaps, there is a barrier where people “do not access healthcare in the first place.”

That is why we are also working on approaches from outside the medical field, such as:
- Creating mechanisms to encourage behavioral change
- Creating touchpoints through art and experiences
- New delivery models utilizing e-commerce and crowdfunding

■ Doing everything we can for “healthcare that leaves no one behind”
We do not limit ourselves to specific methods.

Outpatient, home-visit, online, MaaS, corporate checkups—sometimes through technology, sometimes through culture and experience.

We will do everything necessary to ensure no one is left behind.

That is who we are today.

■ Even so, healthcare is still “reactive”
However, we still think.

All of this is a response “after” a problem has occurred.

Shouldn't the true goal be a society where people in need do not emerge in the first place?

■ From oral data to “predictive and preventive” medicine
We see potential in the oral cavity.

Eating, speaking, breathing—this area gathers information that reflects the state of the entire body.

If:
- Oral data were acquired on a daily basis
- It were linked to overall health
- It were continuously accumulated

Healthcare would change.

From “treatment” to “prediction and prevention.”

We aim to make oral data an infrastructure that protects the health of the entire body.

■ And someday, the role of healthcare itself will change
- Being able to notice before becoming ill
- Being able to prevent before a condition becomes severe
- Not becoming ill in the first place

When such a society is realized, healthcare will change from “something that cures” to “something that protects.”

As a result, the role of medical professionals will also change.

■ To a society where healthcare is “not consciously felt” one day
What we aim for is a world where:
- Health is protected without you even noticing
- There is no need to be conscious of healthcare

Healthcare that exists as naturally as air and water, supporting people.

■ Aiming for the existence of O-Gai to become “transparent”
Our ideal is not to have our name known.

It is for a state where no one is in trouble to be the norm, and for health to be naturally protected.

At that time, it would be fine if people only remembered us later, saying, “Come to think of it, there was a system like that.”

We believe that becoming “unconscious” is the true proof of success.

We cannot realize this dream alone.
