What is ISD?

ISD is a "ship pilot ladder protection device" designed and developed by NY Co., Ltd. In cargo ships, the pilot ladder is one of the frequently used and important pieces of equipment, directly linked to ensuring safety during boarding and disembarking. However, it is prone to wear and damage due to contact with the ship's hull, the effects of waves, and repeated use, requiring appropriate protection and maintenance.

To address these challenges, ISD is designed to reduce the interference between the pilot ladder and waves, thereby mitigating the risk of damage to the ladder itself. It demonstrates stable performance even in harsh marine environments.

### Examples of Damage from Intense Waves

In ships, strong waves during rough weather directly hitting ladders installed on the deck frequently cause equipment damage. In fact, there are cases in the field where ladder steps crack or structural parts deform, leading to the inability to maintain safety and rendering them unusable.

This can lead to citations from the Port State Control (PSC), and in the worst case, the risk of being unable to depart, leading to off-hire situations.
