What is ISD?

ISD is a "ship pilot ladder protection device" designed and developed by NY Co., Ltd. In cargo ships, the pilot ladder is one of the frequently used and important pieces of equipment, directly linked to ensuring safety during boarding and disembarking. However, it is prone to wear and damage due to contact with the ship's hull, the effects of waves, and repeated use, requiring appropriate protection and maintenance.

To address these challenges, ISD is designed to reduce the interference between the pilot ladder and waves, thereby mitigating the risk of damage to the ladder itself. It demonstrates stable performance even in harsh marine environments.

Furthermore, the introduction of ISD is expected to alleviate the burden of ladder maintenance work and reduce replacement frequency, ultimately contributing to a reduction in operating costs. This device, which achieves both safety and economic efficiency, contributes to improving reliability in ship operations.

### Examples of Damage from Intense Waves

In ships, strong waves during rough weather directly hitting ladders installed on the deck frequently cause equipment damage. In fact, there are cases in the field where ladder steps crack or structural parts deform, leading to the inability to maintain safety and rendering them unusable.

This can lead to citations from the Port State Control (PSC), and in the worst case, the risk of being unable to depart, leading to off-hire situations.

### Protecting Ladders from Waves Without Hindering Function

Despite the existence of such damage, there has previously been no product on the market that protects ladders without compromising their function. ISD has undergone repeated prototyping and design to solve these problems, resulting in a product that achieves equipment protection from intense waves without interfering with the ladder's functionality.

### Dispersing Impact

By installing ISD at the lower part of the ladder in a way that does not hinder its operation, wave energy is dispersed, reducing the load on the ladder.

### Completed On-Site

ISD adopts a bolt-fixed structure, allowing for quick replacement in case of damage. By providing it as a semi-finished product, it does not require installation at a dock, and crew members can install and assemble it themselves.

### Highly Versatile Unit Structure

Its connectable design allows it to flexibly adapt to various ladder lengths. With pillar installation positions and simple height adjustments, it can be used on most ships.
