News Overview:

NVIDIA has partnered with Noetra Corporation to build the NVIDIA Vera Rubin AI Factory, based on the NVIDIA DSX platform. This factory will feature over 13,750 Vera CPUs and over 27,500 Rubin GPUs, delivering a 140 MW capacity as a data center built on the NVIDIA DSX platform.

This initiative, supported by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), aims to strengthen Japan's ecosystem across industrial sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare.

The AI Factory will develop open multimodal foundation models for AI agents, digital twins, robotics, and physical AI applications.

Tokyo — July 16, 2026 — NVIDIA today announced a collaboration with Noetra Corporation (hereinafter 'Noetra') to launch the NVIDIA Vera Rubin AI Factory, a national-scale infrastructure aimed at realizing physical AI. This infrastructure will deploy over 13,750 NVIDIA Vera CPUs and over 27,500 NVIDIA Rubin GPUs. Supported by leading Japanese AI and industrial companies, this initiative represents a national-scale AI infrastructure targeting physical AI, strengthening Japan's AI ecosystem across manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and communications sectors.

The new AI Factory being built by Noetra will be configured with NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 racks based on the NVIDIA DSX™ platform and interconnected and scaled via NVIDIA Spectrum-X™ Ethernet networking. This AI Factory will enable the development of open multimodal foundation models to support AI agents, digital twins, robotics, and other physical AI applications.

NVIDIA's Vera Rubin AI Factory will serve as the computing foundation for METI's 'Multimodal Foundation Model Development Project for AI Robotics and Physical AI,' commonly known as the 'FRONTia Project.' This project brings together Japan's manufacturing expertise, real-world industrial data, and global technology leaders to develop reliable multimodal foundation models for physical AI.

Pre-trained weights from Noetra's multimodal foundation models will be widely distributed to domestic model developers and enterprises, along with software such as NVIDIA Nemotron™, NVIDIA Cosmos™, NVIDIA Isaac™ GR00T open models, and the NVIDIA NeMo™ library. This will accelerate the development of agent-based AI and physical AI applications.

Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA, said: 'Japan created today's manufacturing industry. Now, it is building the AI factories that will drive the next industrial revolution. NVIDIA is honored to collaborate with Japan and its industry leaders to build the AI infrastructure that will power Japan's industries, economy, and next-generation innovation.'

METI Minister Akizawa Ryosei said: 'Japan has launched the FRONTia Project, which is central to forming a physical AI ecosystem. By leveraging Japan's strengths—such as on-site expertise and manufacturing technology—and collaborating with outstanding innovators like Japan and NVIDIA, we will develop reliable multimodal foundation models and contribute to solving global societal challenges.'

Hiroto Tanba, President and CEO of Noetra Corporation, said: 'To deploy physical AI in the real world, massive computing power, data, and foundational technologies are required—something no single company can achieve alone. Noetra will collaborate with Japan and global partners to build Japan-led AI foundation models and widely share the results, contributing to the social implementation of physical AI in Japanese industries and enterprises.'

This 140 MW AI Factory, built on the NVIDIA Vera Rubin DSX AI Factory architecture, integrates the NVIDIA Spectrum-X™ Ethernet networking platform, NVIDIA BlueField® DPU, and tightly co-designed silicon, systems, and software to deliver breakthrough AI performance, reduced token costs, and massive scalability for cutting-edge AI training.

NVIDIA DSX provides reference designs and platforms for AI factories, helping infrastructure builders shorten the time to production, increase tokens processed per megawatt, and operate with higher reliability and efficiency.

Advancing Japan's Physical AI Initiative

Japan's 'AI Robotics Strategy,' announced in March, sets a goal to capture over 30% of the global AI robotics market by 2040—an estimated business scale of $133 billion. To support this goal, METI is promoting a development program for domestic multimodal AI foundation models targeting AI robotics and physical AI, as part of Japan's AI industrial policy.

This AI Factory expansion will support training of AI models at the trillion-parameter scale, enabling enterprises and research institutions across Japan to access world-leading AI environments and laying the foundation for next-generation intelligent manufacturing and robotics.
