Construction Begins on the "(Tentative Name) Yokohama Yamashita-cho Project"

NTT Urban Development Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yasushi Ikeda) announced that it has commenced construction of the planned building in Yokohama Yamashita-cho (Address: 196-1 Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa). Completion is scheduled for February 2029. The site is located a 7-minute walk from Kannai Station, situated at a crossroads of diverse history and culture, adjacent to O-sanbashi Street, which is lined with historic buildings, the Yokohama Chinatown, and the nature-rich Yokohama Park. The building will have 9 floors above ground with a total floor area of approximately 23,100 square meters. The first floor will feature retail shops, while the first through fifth floors are planned to house Yokohama City's new Education Center. The fifth through ninth floors will consist of rental offices with a standard floor area of approximately 600 tsubo (approx. 1,980 sqm). The development concept is to "create a new activity hub in Yokohama that embraces diverse history and culture and connects the area." The facade uses tiles that harmonize with surrounding historic buildings, and the landscaping follows the historical context of Yokohama Park. A pedestrian deck being developed by Yokohama City is planned to connect to the building. The offices offer flexible layouts to meet the needs of various companies, from startups to large corporations. Furthermore, the building features robust BCP measures, including a building safety assessment support system and a 72-hour emergency power supply, while aiming for ZEB oriented certification to ensure both environmental performance and safety.
