Tokyu Construction Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Mitsuhiro Terada; hereinafter "Tokyu Construction") and NTT Sonority Corporation (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hiroshi Sakai; hereinafter "NTT Sonority") have jointly commenced a demonstration experiment aimed at improving the level of safety management and operational efficiency at construction sites through the utilization of voice AI.

In this demonstration experiment, NTT Sonority's newly provided voice AI solution will be introduced to construction sites. The experiment will verify the efficiency of record-keeping tasks during morning meetings, hazard prediction activities, staff safety meetings, and inter-company communication adjustments, as well as the advancement of safety management standards at construction sites.

This initiative marks the first instance of NTT Sonority's voice AI being utilized for safety activities at construction sites.

[Background and Purpose of the Initiative]

In the construction industry, productivity improvement has become a challenge due to the aging of engineers, a shortage of young talent, and regulations on working hours.

On the other hand, at construction sites, meetings and record management to protect worker safety are crucial processes that cannot be omitted from the perspective of accident prevention. During meetings, it is necessary to record what is said, but manual record-keeping can lead to omissions, posing a risk of declining quality in safety management. Furthermore, a significant amount of time is spent on safety management in daily operations, leading to calls for operational efficiency from the field.

To address these challenges, Tokyu Construction and NTT Sonority are focusing on the voices exchanged in construction site meetings and are working to improve operational efficiency and safety management standards at construction sites using voice AI.

(1) Utilization of NTT Sonority's Voice AI Solution

NTT Sonority has contributed to improving productivity in various fields, such as construction sites and customer service operations, through "Voice DX" utilizing sound technology devices and software. In this demonstration experiment, they will combine a dedicated microphone equipped with noise reduction technology and a new voice utilization solution to verify high-precision voice recording in the high-noise environment unique to construction sites.

The recorded voices will be automatically converted into text, and generative AI will consistently process summarization, evaluation, and report creation. As the first step towards the social implementation of this solution, which transforms insights and reports originating from naturally spoken "voices" on-site into business reports, settings will be optimized for Tokyu Construction's on-site operations to verify the automatic generation and practicality of reports tailored to actual conditions.

(2) Target Operations for Verification

In this demonstration experiment, verification will be conducted for the following four types of on-site operations:
