Commercial Operation Begins at "Kagawa Kanonji Storage Station" and "Fukuoka Moji Storage Station"

NTT Anode Energy Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Teruyuki Kishimoto; hereinafter "NTT Anode Energy") has constructed the "Kagawa Kanonji Storage Station" (Oonohara-cho, Kanonji City, Kagawa Prefecture) and the "Fukuoka Moji Storage Station" (Moji-ku, Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture), and commenced commercial operation in March 2026. Overview: To address the social challenge of realizing carbon neutrality, the popularization, expansion, and effective utilization of renewable energy are indispensable, and at the same time, stabilizing electricity supply and demand has become an important issue. Since the amount of power generated by renewable energy fluctuates depending on weather conditions, adjustment capabilities are required to keep the frequency and voltage of the power grid constant. Until now, thermal power plants have primarily fulfilled this role, but to accelerate decarbonization, the installation of storage batteries as an adjustment capacity is expected to expand in the future. NTT Anode Energy commenced commercial operations of the Kagawa Kanonji and Fukuoka Moji storage stations in March 2026. With the start of commercial operations at these two locations, NTT Anode Energy now has 10 storage station systems developed and operated in-house nationwide. Moving forward, as an aggregator, the company will conduct optimal trading in various electricity markets (wholesale electricity market, supply and demand adjustment market, capacity market), charge/discharge control, and centralized maintenance and monitoring of the storage stations. Through the development, maintenance, and operation of storage stations, NTT Anode Energy will continue to contribute to the further popularization and expansion of renewable energy and the realization of a sustainable society.
