NTT Mobility Corporation (hereinafter "NTT Mobility") will begin offering "NTT Mobility Operations Assist," a solution that integrates remote operation status monitoring and operational support, on July 8, 2026, in anticipation of the widespread adoption of Level 4 autonomous driving (driverless operation).

NTT Mobility will flexibly provide this solution according to the operational environments and needs of transportation operators and local governments, contributing to the introduction and sustainable operation of autonomous driving in regional transportation by supporting the realization of the following three points:

(1) Efficient remote operation through N:M (N to M) type operations, where a small number of personnel manage multiple vehicles.

(2) Highly stable and reliable remote operation utilizing communication stabilization technology.

(3) Establishment of an operational management system based on domestic laws and regulations.

1. Background

As Level 4 autonomous driving (driverless operation) progresses towards social implementation, the importance of remote operation management to support safe and secure operations is increasing. For Level 4 operations, in addition to requirements for remote monitoring devices set by laws and regulations, it is necessary to establish an operational management system with high stability and reliability that can respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies. Furthermore, the need to remotely handle various tasks traditionally performed inside the vehicle, including passenger support, is expanding.

On the other hand, one of the key challenges in introducing autonomous driving is improving operational efficiency and reducing operating costs. Therefore, instead of a 1:1 operation where one remote operator manages only one vehicle, the introduction of a 1:N type operation where one operator manages multiple vehicles, and even a region-wide model (N:M type) where multiple operators comprehensively manage multiple vehicles, is expected.

Moreover, with the spread of autonomous driving services, it is anticipated that transportation environments will emerge where multiple types of vehicles and autonomous driving systems (ADKs) coexist within the same region due to differences in regional characteristics and transportation modes. To achieve stable and efficient remote operation management in such environments, integrated operation management functions that can centrally manage vehicles and systems without regard to their differences are crucial.

2. Solution Overview and Features

"NTT Mobility Operations Assist" is a solution that integrates and flexibly provides the functions necessary for transportation operators and local governments from the introduction to operation of remote operation systems, by bringing together the knowledge gained from over 60 demonstration experiments by the NTT Group, as well as communication infrastructure, AI technology, IoT monitoring infrastructure, and operational know-how.

<Features>

● Integrated Operation Management with Multi-ADK Support

Supports integrated management of multiple vehicle types through multi-ADK support, independent of specific vehicles or autonomous driving systems. This enables scalable and efficient operations (N:M type) across regions and operators.

● Stable Remote Operation with High-Reliability Communication

Incorporates high-reliability, low-latency communication technology and AI image analysis technology, whose effectiveness has been verified through past autonomous driving demonstrations by the NTT Group. In addition to these, it ensures the communication quality necessary for stable remote operation management by providing integrated optimization tailored to the communication environment of the service area.

● Operational Support Services from Introduction to Operation

Leveraging the knowledge gained from maintaining and operating social infrastructure and corporate systems of the NTT Group, it also provides integrated services such as remote operation system design, manual preparation, and training support for operational management tasks, including passenger support. This enables the construction of flexible remote operation systems tailored to the needs of each operator and region.

Furthermore, by advancing technological development, including the use of AI on both the vehicle and cloud sides, this solution will continuously expand its functions and improve its quality, promoting further sophistication of remote operation support.
