The International College of Culinary Arts and Patisserie (hereinafter referred to as "our school"), part of the NSG Group's International Academy of General Education (Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture, Principal: Kazuyuki Shiiya), will sell "Strawberry Milk French" and "Strawberry Pie" made using "Strawberry Jam" produced by Nagaoka Agricultural High School at the student-produced store "Lien" from Monday, June 29 to Saturday, July 4. The store is operated by students from the Food Produce Department's Grand Patissier Course and Grand Boulanger Course.

The two students operating the student-produced store "Lien" are students who studied for two years in the Patisserie Department's Confectionery Course and Bakery Course at our school last year. They are currently enrolled in the Food Produce Department to further enhance their skills in a practical setting. This is the first of eight sales internships (each lasting 6 days) conducted annually.

This store sells sweets and bread conceived by the students. "Lien" means "bond," "connection," and "affinity" in French, and was named with the desire to cherish various encounters, such as those with people, communities, food, and the future.

Kanan Kawakami, from the Food Produce Department's Grand Boulanger Course, is an alumna of Nagaoka Agricultural High School. While attending the school, she was involved in the production of "Strawberry Jam (Preserves)" as part of her food processing class.

Against the backdrop of the "connections" that many alumni from the school, including Ms. Kawakami, have advanced to our school, we requested an exchange with Nagaoka Agricultural High School from our school. As a result, we were provided with jam and utilized it as an ingredient for sweets and bread.

Ms. Kaori Hoshino, an instructor in the Patisserie Department of the Confectionery and Pastry Technician Training Course, who supervises the store, commented as follows:

"We wanted to create products while cherishing the 'connections' that students have been involved with. By being provided with jam from Nagaoka Agricultural High School, we were able to complete the 'Strawberry Milk French' and 'Strawberry Pie.' We will continue to work on creating high-quality products conceived by our students."

Our school is a comprehensive culinary institution with a total of 10 departments, focusing on six departments: the "Chef Department" (2-year program), "Health Culinary Department" (2-year program), "Cafe Department" (2-year program), and "Culinary Department" (1-year program), which allow students to obtain the national "Cook's License"; the "Patisserie Department" (2-year program), which allows students to obtain the national "Confectionery and Pastry Technician" qualification; and the "Nutritionist Department" (2-year program), which allows students to obtain the national "Nutritionist" qualification.

Furthermore, since its establishment, our school has promoted educational activities based on four pillars: "Practical Education," "Food Education," "International Education," and "Humanity Education." Among these, sales internships are considered important as a venue for practical education.

We will continue to actively implement student-led sales internships like this one, and by deepening exchanges with communities, schools, and organizations, we will foster practical skills and provide guidance so that students can succeed in the industry in the future.
