Certified NPO EDGE supports April Dream, a project aiming to make April 1st a day for announcing dreams. This press release is the dream of "Certified NPO EDGE."
Certified NPO EDGE (Minato-ku, Tokyo; Chairperson: Eiko Todo) announces, in conjunction with "April Dream" on April 1st, its commitment to realizing a society where individuals with dyslexia, who experience difficulties in reading and writing, can unleash their characteristics as "talents" rather than "disabilities."
It's not "can't do it," but "a different way of doing it."
"Why can't I write like everyone else?"
There are children who secretly lose confidence in this way.
Dyslexia involves difficulties in reading and writing. However, these children are neither "lazy" nor "less capable." Their rich talents simply don't fit into a "one-size-fits-all, simultaneous classroom" learning environment, which offers only one option.
We aim for a future where there are "learning options = a learning buffet" tailored to each individual's strengths, rather than relying on existing fixed learning methods.
A step towards the dream, starting with a learning buffet
Learning Buffet Fair 2026, hosted by Certified NPO EDGE Children experiencing "I can do this!" moments
The "Learning Buffet Fair" held in March saw approximately 400 visitors, and the venue was filled with children's smiles.
It was a place where children could experience "learning tools" suited to them, such as text-to-speech software, digital textbooks, and kanji component cards, as if choosing their favorite dishes from a buffet.
With each tool they found that suited them, the children's eyes began to sparkle.
"It was most important that the child, who is a person with dyslexia, seemed to enjoy themselves throughout," said a parent.
That sight is the driving force behind our dream.
Meeting your future self: Interacting with role models

The venue also gathered adults with dyslexia who are actively succeeding in society, universities, and other fields in their own unique ways.
"I'm also not good at reading and writing, but I'm working now by using these methods."
One boy received his first "business card = profile card" from a senior at the venue. Seeing an adult who shares the same characteristics but works confidently in society gave him the realization that "my future is bright."
"I was encouraged by seeing an older person with dyslexia living wonderfully."
"My daughter, who tends to get down easily, also felt that she wasn't alone."
The presence of adults who have overcome the common hurdle of "difficulty in reading and writing" serves as the most significant "living role models" for these children.
Customizable learning transforms the wall of "disability" into shining "talent."
There is more than one way to learn.
By becoming role models for the next generation, individuals with dyslexia will make "learning options = a learning buffet" a normal part of society.
A society where no child suffers from reading and writing difficulties, and dyslexia is recognized as a "talent with a unique perspective."
Certified NPO EDGE believes in the power of children and is committed to making this dream a reality.
"April Dream" is a project by PR TIMES that, instead of simply telling exciting lies on April 1st, encourages people to share dreams they genuinely want to achieve without compromise in the future.
