The Beyond Conference is an annual "trade fair for co-creation projects" hosted by aBC. This marks the 5th time this event has been held as a unique venue where companies, universities, and NPOs seeking a sustainable society can promote collaboration and cooperation across differences in industry and size.
Since 2018, aBC has been active as a place for 'co-creation' where companies and NPOs collaborate beyond organizational boundaries to address increasingly complex social issues such as a declining birthrate, aging population, depopulation, and climate change.
The "Beyond Conference," the stage for this practice, started with the 1st event in 2022 (Kencho-ji Temple, Kamakura), followed by the 2nd (Satoyama in Kyoto), the 3rd (Haneda Innovation City), and the 4th (all over Awaji Island). A total of more than 1,330 people have participated so far, and cross-sector co-creation cases have been born.
This year, the 5th event, will be held in Toranomon Hills and Glass Rock, the heart of Japan's business. The concept is "Individual will to organizational power." Rather than viewing the individual's desire (ideal) to "improve society" and the organization's "profit" as an opposing structure against complex social issues, it aims to make them a driving force that moves society as "dual wheels" that heat each other and evolve together.
■ Comments from the Co-organizer / Glass Rock Representative
Ms. Kaho Shimizu (Mori Building Co., Ltd., New Domain Business Department, Innovation Facility Operations Office, Glass Rock Representative)
Glass Rock opened in 2025 as a base where people from diverse sectors gather and face social issues together, believing that new value creation exists precisely at the intersection of business and the social sector.
In order to drastically transform society, it is essential to build businesses with the dual wheels of individual 'will' and the corporate 'organizational power'.
This year's Beyond Conference will truly bring together people from all over the country who are facing those conflicts and challenges.
We will not let it end as a transient event, but connect it to everyday co-creation.
We hope that a new wave of social transformation will begin here.
