ZOZO Marine Stadium Hosts "Don't Leave Obesity and Obese Disease Alone! DAY" with Talk Show by Former Chiba Lotte Marines Player Keisuke Aomatsu and Chiba University Professor Kei Ono

Novo Nordisk Pharma Ltd. (President and CEO: Keisuke Kotani, Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) sponsored the professional baseball Pacific League game between the Chiba Lotte Marines and the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks held at ZOZO Marine Stadium on Saturday, April 4, 2026, as part of its awareness activities for obesity and obese disease, and hosted "Don't Leave Obesity and Obese Disease Alone! DAY."

This event was held based on the "Cooperation Agreement on Measures against Obesity and Obese Disease" concluded in October 2024 by Novo Nordisk Pharma, Chiba City, and Chiba University. Its purpose was to convey to stadium visitors the difference between obesity and obese disease, and the importance of having correct knowledge.

On the day, in addition to distributing fans and leaflets at the entrance gates and holding a quiz event at booths outside the stadium, a special talk show was held on a specially set-up stage outside the stadium, featuring former Chiba Lotte Marines OB Keisuke Aomatsu and Professor Kei Ono of the Chiba University Center for Preventive Medicine.

■ Talk Show Content

In the talk show, under the theme of "Obesity and Obese Disease: Let's Start by Knowing," explanations were given on the concept of BMI and health, the difference between obesity and obese disease, and the importance of considering obese disease as a societal issue.

Mr. Aomatsu reflected on the changes in his body after retirement from active play and shared his personal experience of increased health awareness. Professor Ono explained that BMI is not the only criterion for judging health status, and it is important to look at "body condition" such as the balance of muscle mass and fat mass, not just weight. He also introduced that "obesity" and "obese disease" are different, and that obese disease may require medical treatment and support. Furthermore, it was conveyed that the background of obese disease involves not only lifestyle habits but also physical constitution and living environment, and that it is important to understand and support it as a whole society, rather than viewing it as a lack of individual effort.

At the end of the talk, Mr. Aomatsu, who learned about "obesity and obese disease," stated that as someone who teaches baseball to children, he wants to convey not only the importance of lifestyle habits but also the creation of an environment where healthy living can be naturally maintained.

This is a unique project for obesity and obese disease countermeasures launched through an agreement between Chiba City, Chiba University (National University Corporation), and Novo Nordisk Pharma Ltd.
