CAREER MARK, operated by Novita Inc. (headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Reiko Miyoshi), will co-host an online seminar on May 28, 2026 with FlexibleCAREER, operated by PERSOL TEMPSTAFF CO., LTD. (headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Kazunari Kimura). The seminar is designed for HR professionals who face challenges in recruitment. The seminar is titled “Rethinking Assumptions in Hiring Criteria: Identifying Work-ready Talent and Updating Recruitment Perspectives.” Since 2020, CAREER MARK has operated a recruitment service specializing in partners of expatriate employees. Many of these individuals, sometimes referred to in Japan as “expatriate wives,” have career gaps of around three to five years due to accompanying their partners overseas, but they have also gained a wide range of soft skills through setting up life abroad, volunteer activities, and other experiences. These skills include language ability acquired through overseas living, communication skills and adaptability across cultural barriers, problem-solving ability and flexibility in responding to unexpected issues, and the capacity for transformation developed by applying these abilities in daily life over several years. CAREER MARK registrants in particular often combine these soft skills with solid professional backgrounds and strong motivation to work. CAREER MARK and PERSOL TEMPSTAFF share the goal of creating a system that enables motivated people, who would otherwise have continued contributing in society but experienced career gaps due to life events, to become active again in the workforce. This shared vision led to the co-hosting of the seminar. Against a backdrop of chronic labor shortages, many companies face the challenge of being unable to recruit enough people. At the same time, there are many cases in which capable candidates are unconsciously excluded from consideration because of how their resumes appear or because of conventional evaluation criteria. The seminar will focus on these “overlooked work-ready candidates,” visualize gaps in recruitment evaluation, and offer concrete perspectives for updating hiring decisions. The seminar will be held online via Zoom from 12:00 to 13:00 on Thursday, May 28, 2026, and participation is free. Speakers include Tomomi Kobashi and Maho Hayashi from CAREER MARK, as well as Kazuki Tanjou and Sakuya Asai from PERSOL TEMPSTAFF’s FlexibleCAREER. All speakers are certified career consultants and will provide practical content based on field experience. The agenda includes an overview of market challenges, the realities of HR and recruitment sites, visualization of evaluation gaps through interactive exercises, case studies, and a review of hiring decisions and requirement definitions to increase opportunities to meet candidates. The seminar targets HR and recruitment professionals struggling to build candidate pools, companies with too few valid applications and stalled selection processes, those facing declined offers or early turnover, and those who want to revisit their recruitment criteria and requirement definitions. Applications close at the end of May 27, 2026. CAREER MARK provides career support and recruitment services specializing in partners of expatriate employees, connecting companies with career talent who combine work experience in Japan with flexibility, adaptability, and transformational capability developed through accompanying overseas assignments.
