Metagri Lab (operated by Noujoujin Co., Ltd., headquartered in Funabashi City, Chiba Prefecture, CEO: Yuichiro Kai), a farmer support community promoting "Agriculture x New Technology," will close submissions for the "Future Milk Image Posting Campaign 2026" on June 30, 2026 (Tue), coinciding with "Milk Month" in June.

Over 160 entries, including photographs, illustrations, hand-drawn works, and AI-generated images, were received from across the country. Many of the accompanying comments expressed a desire to "know which farm and whose hands deliver the milk we drink every day," indicating that even though people drink milk daily, opportunities to learn about its production background are limited. A report compiling and analyzing the submitted works and comments, along with the announcement of the award-winning pieces, is scheduled to be released in July 2026.

Background of the Campaign

June 1st is "World Milk Day," proposed by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

In Japan, the Japan Dairy Association, the predecessor to the Japan Dairy Industry Association (Jミルク), designated June 1st as "Milk Day" and June as "Milk Month."

During this period, initiatives to re-examine the value of milk and dairy products are carried out across the country. However, there are few opportunities for consumers to directly convey their questions about milk or their thoughts on cows and dairy farming to the production sites.

Therefore, Metagri Lab created an accessible entry point by inviting submissions of photos and illustrations, making it a project that could involve a wide range of consumers, including families and students, as well as creators working with photos, illustrations, and AI-generated images. This initiative is a co-creative effort that not only collects image works but also organizes and analyzes the comments received during submission to convey consumer voices to the dairy farming industry.

As of 10:00 AM on June 30, 2026, 161 entries have been received.

Example Works

List of Works

The submissions covered a wide range of expression methods, including photographs, hand-drawn works, illustrations, and AI-generated images.

The submitted works expressed not only ideas for future farms and new types of milk. Many also conveyed familiar feelings experienced in daily life, such as time spent drinking milk with family, memories of school lunches, gratitude towards cows and dairy farmers, and the background of how milk reaches our tables.

"Voices of Consumers" Received with the Works

This project, which called for submissions on five themes related to milk, received requests to learn more about the production background of milk, in addition to ideas for new flavors, containers, and ways of drinking.

Comments from submissions included questions about the environment in which cows are raised, the thoughts of dairy farmers in delivering milk, and whether there are differences in taste depending on the region or season.

Despite differences in region, age, and method of expression, the submission comments shared a common question.

"Where and by whose hands is the milk I always drink made, and how does it reach my table?"

This question being raised numerous times is one of the significant characteristics revealed through this project. Below, we introduce some of the submitted comments.

Until I researched this, I didn't know that the taste of milk changes with the seasons. I think choosing milk would be more enjoyable if we could easily learn about the characteristics of different regions and farms.

I wonder from which farm and which cows the milk in the milk carton I always buy comes. Is it from nearby, or is it transported from a distant region?

I want to know more about the background of how cows are raised in what kind of environment and what kind of people are involved in delivering the milk.

I want to know more about the thoughts of dairy farmers in raising cows and ensuring quality as milk reaches our tables.

This project is not just about collecting works; it is also an initiative to visualize how consumers choose milk and what kind of information they seek.
