Nougyou AI Tsushin, an AI media platform for farmers operated by the farmer-support community 'Metagri Research Institute' (managed by Noujoujin Co., Ltd., headquarters: Funabashi City, Chiba Prefecture, CEO: Yuichiro Kai), has launched the 'Agricultural AI Utilization Survey 2026' to understand the real-world use of generative AI in agriculture.
Participants who complete the survey and register their email address will receive an exclusive video explaining how farmers have used AI in practical ways—such as daily work reports, record-keeping, accounting, sales promotion, and information dissemination—based on real interviews conducted by Nougyou AI Tsushin. The video offers actionable insights on how to start using accessible generative AI tools in your own farming operations.

Do you think, "AI is not for us"?
When you hear "using AI in agriculture," you might picture advanced precision farming or large-scale agricultural corporations, thinking it has nothing to do with small or medium-sized farms like yours.
However, through interviews and hands-on support provided by Nougyou AI Tsushin, we've discovered that many farmers are already experimenting with generative AI—not just for automated cultivation, but also for everyday tasks such as writing daily reports, organizing cultivation records, creating promotional POP displays and catchy slogans, and preparing financial documents or subsidy applications.
At the same time, we hear from the field: "We don’t have time to write reports," or "We’re interested in generative AI, but don’t know where to start."
Using generative AI doesn’t necessarily require investing in expensive systems or subscribing to paid plans. Depending on the use case, farmers can begin with free tools like ChatGPT or Gemini on their smartphones, applying them to daily documentation and writing tasks.
This survey aims to uncover the current state of generative AI adoption in agriculture, including usage patterns and challenges, by gathering insights from a broad range of agricultural stakeholders.
※ Currently, respondents include many individuals already engaged with Nougyou AI Tsushin and thus more likely to be interested in generative AI. Detailed analysis, including respondent demographics, will be published as a report from July 2026 onward.
Challenges in Agriculture and the Potential of Generative AI
In farming, factors such as labor shortages, aging populations, knowledge transfer, climate change, and rising input costs make it increasingly difficult to rely solely on experience and intuition. At the same time, advances in generative AI now allow farmers to combine free or low-cost AI tools, online platforms, and off-the-shelf sensors to support decision-making in management, cultivation, and marketing—based on daily records and on-site observations—without needing to develop expensive custom systems.
Yet real-world adoption faces barriers: "We don’t know where to start," or "We have no one to turn to when we get stuck."
Nougyou AI Tsushin combines media outreach with hands-on support, openly sharing not only success stories but also trial-and-error experiences to help farmers overcome these barriers. This survey is a natural extension of that mission—to visualize the current reality of as many agricultural stakeholders as possible.
