NOK Corporation (Headquarters: Shibadaimon, Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President & Group CEO: Masao Tsuru; hereinafter "NOK") will exhibit at the "Automotive Engineering Exposition 2026 YOKOHAMA," which will be held from Wednesday, May 27, to Friday, May 29, 2026, at Pacifico Yokohama (Nishi-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa). In this exhibition, the company plans to showcase five new products and new specification products that contribute to the improvement of safety and reliability, as well as environmental compliance in the automotive field, including electric vehicles (EVs). It will introduce technologies that support mobility undergoing electrification, such as electromagnetic noise countermeasures, improvement of battery pack safety, compliance with PFAS regulations, enhancement of lubrication performance, and efficiency in design and manufacturing.

■ End-face Sliding Breather Brush *Reference Exhibit / New Product
This is a conductive brush used by contacting the shaft end face of an EV drive motor. EV drive motors face issues of bearing electrolytic corrosion and radio noise caused by electromagnetic noise resulting from inverter switching. Conventionally, multiple components such as a cover, seal, and breathable membrane for dustproof and waterproof purposes were used in addition to a conductive brush to address these issues. However, this product integrates conductive, dustproof/waterproof, and breathing functions into a single component. It uses a press-fit installation, eliminating the need for fixing bolts.
This not only provides countermeasures against electrolytic corrosion and noise but also contributes to weight reduction and reduced processing steps by decreasing the number of parts, as well as improved freedom in peripheral layouts due to space savings from the elimination of the cover.
■ Pressure Relief Valve (Fitting Type) *New Specification
This is a component attached to EV battery cases to discharge a large amount of gas to the outside when it is generated due to thermal runaway inside the battery. There is a risk that the internal pressure of a battery pack will rise due to gas generated during an abnormality, leading to ignition or explosion. Therefore, it is necessary to balance a sealed structure that ensures waterproof and dustproof properties with the function of safely discharging gas during an abnormality.
This product adds a new fitting (snap-in) type to the pressure relief valve series announced in 2024. Because it can be installed without using bolts, it contributes to reducing the number of parts. In addition, the outer rubber part is structured to have both fixing and sealing functions. Furthermore, by applying NOK's proprietary anti-corrosion technology "RUSTECTOR (*)" to the outer rubber part, corrosion resistance in salt water environments is improved. RUSTECTOR is a technology for suppressing the progression of corrosion through its cross-sectional shape.
*RUSTECTOR is a registered trademark of NOK. (Trademark Registration Nos. 5977257 and 5977258)
■ PFAS-free Brake Shim *Reference Exhibit / New Product
This is a brake shim featuring a low-friction coating that does not use PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances). Brake shims have various specifications and are used differently depending on the application and usage environment. Generally, fluorine-based coating agents are used for low-friction coating brake shims, but amidst tightening PFAS regulations, a shift to non-fluorine materials is demanded.
Through its unique material technology, NOK has secured low-friction performance with non-fluorine materials. While complying with environmental regulations, it maintains performance equivalent to conventional products and contributes to the suppression of squeal during braking. This product is intended to be provided as a coil material, assuming that customers will process it into a shim shape.
■ Rubber-coated Metal Gasket Cover *Reference Exhibit / New Product
This is a component that integrates a case cover (lid) and a gasket (packing) that maintains hermeticity. Because the cover and gasket were conventionally composed of separate parts, issues arose from the large number of parts and assembly steps. With NOK's technology that consistently handles everything from material selection to press die processing, it contributes to a reduction in the number of parts, a decrease in assembly steps, and efficiency in the manufacturing process. This product is expected to be deployed in a wide range of applications, including the mobility sector, electronic devices, and industrial equipment, as well as cover components aimed at waterproofing and dustproofing.
■ Next-generation PAO Grease *New Product
This is a PAO grease (*) that can be used in a wide range of temperature environments. Conventional PAO grease had to be selected according to specific conditions such as low-temperature performance or heat resistance.
NOK has developed a next-generation PAO grease that improves heat resistance by approximately 40% while maintaining low-temperature performance equivalent to conventional PAO grease specialized for low temperatures. By adopting a special base oil, it achieves both low-temperature performance and heat resistance, which were previously difficult to satisfy simultaneously.
By suppressing viscosity changes due to temperature, it has the characteristics of being less prone to solidifying at low temperatures and less prone to evaporating at high temperatures, leading to reduced wear and improved component lifespan. Additionally, because it can be used in a wide temperature environment, it also contributes to a reduction in the types of grease.
It can be applied to gears of sunroofs for automobiles, gears of in-vehicle actuators, and more.
*PAO Grease: A lubricant manufactured through chemical synthesis. PAO is a synthetic hydrocarbon that does not contain impurities such as sulfur or nitrogen, has a high viscosity index, and demonstrates stable performance from low to high temperatures.
