KIMONO DANCE JAPAN (Headquarters: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Directors: Ayano Shinkawa, Taeko Koizumi; hereinafter "KIMONO DANCE JAPAN"), the organizer of the "KIMONO×DANCE PROJECT," performed at the Honolulu Festival, one of Hawaii's largest cultural exchange events, held in Hawaii, USA, from Friday, March 13 to Sunday, March 15, 2026.

Promoting Japanese culture with "tradition and innovation" through dance performance

Since its establishment in 2021, the "KIMONO×DANCE PROJECT (hereinafter KDP)" has delivered a unique style of Japanese cultural performance based on the theme of "tradition and innovation," featuring dancers wearing costumes made from upcycled vintage kimonos and performing modern dance styles such as street and jazz.

Starting in 2024, the group expanded its activities overseas, performing at events such as JAPAN EXPO Paris and MANGA BARCELONA. In March 2026, they performed at the Honolulu Festival, which celebrated its 30th anniversary.

At the venue, the group energized the event with performances set to anime songs, such as "LoveSick," the theme song for the theatrical version of Mononoke: The Umbrella, and collaborations with the Japanese-style performance group Oiran.

KDP will continue to share the potential of Japanese culture both domestically and internationally through its kimono and dance performances.

About the "Honolulu Festival"

Established in 1995, the Honolulu Festival is an international event aimed at cultural exchange between Hawaii and the Pacific Rim region. Held every March, the festival offers a wide range of programs, including cultural experiences at the Hawaii Convention Center, performances at the Ala Moana Center and other locations, a grand parade in Waikiki, and the Nagaoka Fireworks display. It serves as a venue for local residents and visitors from around the world to experience the cultures of Japan, Hawaii, and the wider Pacific region.
