Nihon Kanzai Holdings Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Shintaro Fukuda; hereinafter referred to as "the Company"), which is involved in building management and operation services for office buildings and commercial facilities, housing management and operation services, and real estate fund management services, announced that its group company, Nihon Kanzai Co., Ltd., serves as the secretariat for the Nihon Kanzai Safety and Health Cooperation Association, which held study sessions from May 26 to June 10, 2026, across its six branches nationwide (Hokkaido, Tokyo, Chubu, Kansai, Chugoku Shikoku, and Kyushu).

A total of 183 companies and 273 individuals participated in the study sessions across the six branches, making it a nationwide initiative.

Background and Overview of Implementation

In recent years, against the backdrop of a declining birthrate, aging population, and labor shortages, the proportion of elderly workers has been increasing year by year. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' "Statistics on the Elderly in Japan" (as of September 15, 2025), the number of employed persons aged 65 and over has increased for 21 consecutive years, reaching a record high of 9.3 million.

On April 1, 2026, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare revised the Industrial Safety and Health Act. To prevent industrial accidents among elderly workers, it became the employer's duty to make efforts to improve the working environment and implement necessary measures such as work management, taking into account the characteristics of elderly workers.

The Nihon Kanzai Safety and Health Cooperation Association holds study sessions annually for our employees and business partners of the Cooperation Association members. This year, in light of these social trends and legal revisions, external lecturers were invited to all six branches nationwide, with lecture themes set for each region to raise safety awareness on-site.

Scenes from the Study Sessions

This year, in addition to inviting lecturers from Labor Safety Consultant Associations (Aichi, Hiroshima, Fukuoka) and the Nishinomiya Labor Standards Association, we expanded our scope to new industries and fields, welcoming "JAF (Japan Automobile Federation)" as a lecturer for the Hokkaido branch and "AYUMI BIONICS Co., Ltd." for the Tokyo branch.

Hokkaido Branch

At the Hokkaido branch, Mr. Junichi Ando from JAF (Japan Automobile Federation) was invited as a lecturer and gave a presentation on the theme of "Preventing Traffic Accidents."

The lecture explained measures to prevent traffic accidents based on "near-miss incidents (traffic accidents)" collected from members of the Safety and Health Cooperation Association, as well as "hazard prediction and accident avoidance training" for safe driving. In particular, through accident footage captured by drive recorders, participants gained a deeper understanding of how slight lapses in attention can lead to accidents and the importance of hazard prediction.

The Hokkaido branch theme was chosen as traffic accident prevention, as many employees travel by vehicle and often drive in adverse weather conditions.

Tokyo Branch

At the Tokyo branch, Mr. Yuta Tawaki from AYUMI BIONICS Co., Ltd. was invited as a lecturer and gave a presentation on the theme of "Safety Management for Elderly Workers Changing with the 2026 Legal Revision - From Introducing Fitness Checks to Utilizing AI -," covering the outline of the revised Industrial Safety and Health Act, trends in industrial accidents in the building maintenance industry, and health management for elderly workers.

The lecture included case studies using the company's proprietary AI system "AYUMI Scan," discussing accident prevention measures based on physical and mental function assessments, creating a comfortable work environment, and the future of safety management in the AI era. Nihon Kanzai is also proceeding with the introduction of this system as one of the measures to prevent industrial accidents among elderly workers.
