This initiative aims to provide students with opportunities to engage in activities in a real workplace environment and to support connecting their school learning to society. This is the second time Okinawa Nippon Kanzei has accepted such a program, following last year's event.
Background and Implementation Overview
Okinawa High Special Support School was established in 1990 as a prefectural special support school to promote vocational and social independence for students with mild intellectual disabilities. The school considers work experience at companies and businesses as an important educational activity and provides a total of six such opportunities over three years.
Okinawa Nippon Kanzei is responsible for the cleaning and environmental hygiene management of the Uruma City Hall Main Building and has accepted this program for the second time, following last October.
In this program, two students participated in cleaning floors, corridors, toilets, and garbage collection. They also cleaned lobbies and corridors used by visitors, working in an environment similar to daily operations.
Additionally, as part of this initiative, the school's work experience plan included commuting training using route buses, which also provided experience in managing commuting time and movement.

Work Experience Details
On the first day, the students were nervous and carefully followed the work procedures. However, a few days later, they were seen greeting visitors with 'Good morning.' During corridor cleaning, they learned the correct way to use a mop and sweep from the cleaning supervisor of Okinawa Nippon Kanzei. As they repeated the tasks, their movements became more stable, and there were instances where they worked alone.
