Nitto Kogyo Corporation (Headquarters: Nagakute City, Aichi Prefecture; President: Akinobu Teshima; hereinafter referred to as Nitto Kogyo), a leading manufacturer of standard chargers for EVs and PHEVs, has added a 9.6kW high-output model to its flagship "Pit-2G" series of standard chargers. This marks the first time for a domestic manufacturer (Note 1) to achieve this.

This product was the first in Japan from a domestic manufacturer to obtain JARI (Japan Automobile Research Institute) certification for 9.6kW output in June 2026. It has also been listed as an eligible model for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's "Subsidy for Introduction of Charging/Refueling Facilities, etc. for Promotion of Dissemination of Clean Energy Vehicles" (Note 2).

Nitto Kogyo will continue to support the construction of sustainable charging infrastructure by providing safer and more secure chargers for EVs and PHEVs.

[Features of MODE3 Standard Charger Pit-2G Series, 9.6kW Output Model]

1. High Economic Efficiency with First JARI Certification in Japan and Subsidy Eligibility

We have obtained JARI certification by clearing stringent standards in the 9.6kW output range, which was previously unavailable for domestic manufacturer products. This allows for the utilization of national subsidies for charging equipment installation. While it is a high-output next-generation infrastructure, it significantly reduces the initial installation costs for facility operators.

2. Among the Fastest in Japan for Standard Charging! Recover Approximately 67km of Driving Range with 1 Hour of Charging

Charging is possible at a speed approximately three times faster than conventional general EV outlets (3kW). With approximately 67km (Note 3) of driving range recoverable in one hour of charging, sufficient power can be smartly replenished during stays at commercial facilities, offices, hotels, and more. This enables facilities that were struggling with the necessity of installing expensive rapid chargers to offer next-generation charging services that satisfy users, while avoiding enormous initial and operational costs such as high-voltage power reception contracts.

3. Infrastructure Development for Future High-Capacity Batteries and Commercial Vehicle Adoption

Currently, only some overseas vehicles (Note 4) support 9.6kW charging. However, with the future increase in battery capacity, the number of compatible vehicles is expected to grow in the domestic passenger car market and in the commercial vehicle sector, such as trucks and taxis where operational efficiency is crucial. This is the optimal choice to prepare for future infrastructure demand.

4. Excellent Cost Performance for Wide-Ranging Applications

The output control range has been significantly expanded from "1.2kW to 9.6kW," enabling sophisticated integration with diverse energy management systems, such as facility peak power cut (demand control) and charging utilizing surplus solar power.

Furthermore, by sharing parts with the flagship model "Pit-2G," expandability for integration with various EV charging services remains intact. Leveraging the scale merits unique to a top manufacturer, we have achieved both the peace of mind of domestic development and production, and high cost competitiveness.

Product Overview

Note 1: As of June 30, 2026, based on our research.

Note 2: Eligible models for subsidies are listed in the "Subsidy Limit for Charging Equipment" by the Next Generation Vehicle Promotion Center.

Note 3: Theoretical value calculated assuming an electric energy consumption of 7km per 1kWh (equivalent to Nissan Leaf class).

Note 4: Currently, only some overseas vehicles such as European cars, Tesla, and Hyundai support 9.6kW standard charging. When connecting non-compatible domestic vehicles, the output will be automatically controlled according to the vehicle's maximum capacity.
