Nitto Kogyo to Participate in "Girls Meet STEM" for the Second Consecutive Year

Nitto Kogyo Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nagakute City, Aichi Prefecture, President: Akinobu Tejima, hereinafter referred to as Nitto Kogyo) will participate for the second consecutive year in "Girls Meet STEM," a tour-style experience program for junior high and high school girls in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields, promoted by the Shintaro Yamada D&I Foundation (Location: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Shintaro Yamada, hereinafter referred to as the Shintaro Yamada D&I Foundation). Through this participation, we will work towards nurturing the next generation and promoting the active participation of female human resources.

*1 STEM is an acronym for the four academic fields: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Background of Participation and Thoughts on DE&I

Nitto Kogyo is a manufacturing company that supports lifestyles and industries with its technology to "connect" electricity and information. To realize a sustainable society, nurturing human resources with diverse perspectives and flexible ideas is essential, and we position the promotion of women's active participation as an important theme of DE&I (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion).

By providing junior high and high school girls on the verge of choosing their career paths with opportunities to experience "the behind-the-scenes of energy infrastructure that supports society," which they don't usually see, and to interact with female engineers working there, we aim to help them experience the fun of science and technology and manufacturing, and broaden their future options.

Last Year's Achievements and Highlights of This Year's Event

In the first tour held in August 2025, we conducted a factory tour and a roundtable discussion with female engineers involved in the development of "EV chargers." Participants commented, "Seeing female engineers working vibrantly allowed me to concretely imagine a career path in science," and "I was surprised by the technology behind the infrastructure we use every day." This second event will again feature a popular production line tour, along with an easy-to-understand explanation of how electrical and mechanical technologies benefit our lives. In the roundtable discussion, young female engineers will participate as relatable advisors for career and life path choices. They will discuss concerns about pursuing science-related studies and the rewards of working, encouraging junior and high school girls' desire to "know more and try more."
