On May 28, 2026, Nippon Road held its second coastal forest restoration activity at "Nippon Road 'Kibou no Mori'" (Sendai City Arahama District), for which a tripartite agreement was concluded with Miyagi Prefecture and Sendai City. This activity follows the one held in November 2025.

Miyagi Prefecture has been promoting the "Miyagi Coastal Forest Regeneration: Everyone's Forest Creation Activity" since 2014, aiming to restore coastal forests that were severely damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake. Our company, in order to connect the importance of contributing to the local community and environmental conservation to the next generation, planned and participated in this activity starting from fiscal year 2025, with young employees from the Tohoku Branch taking the lead.

Opening ceremony in November 2025 (employees' children also participated)

On the day of the event, 28 employees from the Nippon Road Group, including Takeshi Hosoda, Branch Manager of Tohoku Branch, participated. Through weeding and the removal of old sand-guard fences that had served their purpose, they worked to create an environment where trees can grow healthily, while also contributing to the maintenance of the region's disaster prevention functions.

*Sand-guard fence: A fence to protect planted trees from sand drift. In the creation of coastal forests, it plays a role in weakening wind speed, suppressing sand movement, and preventing newly planted saplings from being buried or damaged by sand.

Despite the work being carried out under gloomy skies and slightly humid conditions, all participants, guided by members of the Miyagi Prefecture Forest Instructor Association, engaged in the work with a strong sense of mission to protect the region's natural environment.

Our company will continue to deepen cooperation with the local community and actively engage in environmental conservation activities towards the realization of a sustainable society.
