Nippon Chikudenchi Co., Ltd. announced that its NC Nagahama City Mikawacho Battery Storage Station in Shiga Prefecture started power reception on May 22, 2026. The grid-scale energy storage facility is designed to absorb and smooth renewable energy fluctuations. It will operate in wholesale (JEPX), supply-demand adjustment, and capacity markets, while serving as a local disaster prevention hub. The project features a TMEIC storage system utilizing CATL batteries and a TMEIC power conditioning system (PCS). Design and construction were managed by Kando co., Ltd., ensuring local safety and environmental compliance. Nippon Chikudenchi plans to expand its grid-scale battery projects nationwide to support decarbonization and enhance regional disaster resilience.
