NIMASO JAPAN Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kanagawa Prefecture, hereinafter NIMASO), which operates the global brand "NIMASO" for smartphone-related accessories, has partnered with the educational institution Tokyo Mode Gakuen (Location: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter Tokyo Mode Gakuen) to implement a smartphone case design project by students.
This project goes beyond the framework of mere product development. Under the strong philosophy of "removing barriers between brands and young creators and delivering their talent to the world," students from Tokyo Mode Gakuen will design NIMASO's next-generation smartphone cases, aiming to create new products that fuse technology and sensibility.
■ Project Background: Creativity Has No Boundaries
NIMASO has, until now, protected devices worldwide with its technological prowess and quality. However, what we next want to protect and nurture is "creativity" that shapes the future.
The background of this project lies in NIMASO's belief that "creativity has no boundaries, and its talent should be equally recognized." The true purpose of this project is to provide a platform for the next generation of students to directly present their fresh sensibilities to the world, without the filter of a brand, breaking down existing frameworks between companies and students.
■ Why Tokyo Mode Gakuen now?
Currently, smartphone cases are no longer just "protective tools" but have become one of the most important items for self-expression (self-branding).
NIMASO has gained trust primarily in Japan for its high-quality glass films and cases. However, to more deeply reflect the values of Gen Z, who are at the forefront of rapidly changing trends, we decided to collaborate with Tokyo Mode Gakuen, a top institution in fashion and design.
By incorporating the students' unconstrained and realistic sense of "what they truly want to carry now" into products, we aim to propose a next-generation standard that highly integrates functionality and fashion.
■ Main Features of the Project
Design development reflecting "Gen Z's reality"
Students, who daily experience trends emerging from SNS and the streets, will be responsible for research, concept planning, and design.
[Design Requirements presented to students]
Target: Working women aged 25-35
Concept: Balancing "subtle cuteness" and "elegance" that harmonize with office scenes
Quality: Thorough attention to detail and a sophisticated texture that does not feel cheap
Facing this challenging task, Tokyo Mode Gakuen students combined thorough market research with their unique sensibilities to create numerous excellent designs that broke existing molds.

With flowing lines and glitter that moves with angles, the design aims to be a small daily comfort. To evoke a sense of relaxed time amidst a busy flow, we want it to flow slowly with a viscous oil.

We designed a floral pattern inspired by stained glass on a transparent clear case. By adding gold edges and a glossy finish to the flower motifs, we aimed for elegance that is not overly flashy while maintaining glamour. We sought to create a design that feels new and special.

This smartphone case expresses movement and individuality with a boldly placed ribbon string design. The monotone color scheme tightens the overall look, resulting in a simple yet impressive finish with a subtle cuteness.

This smartphone case was designed to be an accent for simple clothes, becoming a part of fashion. Inspired by nails and eyeshadow palettes, it incorporates things women love. We want users to feel summer every time they use this case.
