Nippon Keori Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Osaka; hereinafter "Nikke") is collaborating with Kasuga City, Fukuoka Prefecture, to promote "WAONAS," Nikke's wool clothing collection and recycling project. Through this project, used uniforms scheduled for disposal will be re-materialized, contributing to the realization of a decarbonized and circular society.

Nikke's clothing circular project "WAONAS" is an initiative to re-materialize used wool-blend clothing and regenerate it into new garments. Traditionally, clothing has been difficult to recycle, with disposal (incineration/landfill) being the mainstream. By re-materializing and circulating resources through "WAONAS," greenhouse gas emissions from the disposal process are reduced, and the project contributes to national clothing collection and recycling policies.

Kasuga City revised its "Third Phase Global Warming Countermeasures Implementation Plan (Regional Policy Edition)" in March 2025 and is working on re-materializing various waste products to achieve a decarbonized society with net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Furthermore, by providing environmental education to children according to their developmental stages, the entire city is striving to raise environmental awareness.

In this initiative, new uniforms will be gradually introduced to students entering the six junior high schools in Kasuga City starting from April 2027. Prior to this, the collection of used uniforms from third-year students will begin in March 2026.

Additionally, Nikke will implement the environmental education program "Wool Lab," providing children with opportunities to learn about clothing and the environment.

Nikke and Kasuga City will continue to collaborate, promoting uniform circulation and environmental education together, thereby contributing to sustainable community development.

< About WAONAS >
Wool clothing is durable, has a long product life, and is environmentally friendly. "WAONAS" is Japan's first initiative made possible by proprietary technology development that returns collected wool-blend clothing to its raw material state and regenerates it into yarn and then into new clothes.
It is a new environmentally friendly project that develops recycling into a "garment-to-garment" circular regeneration.

< WAONAS Circular Alliance Concept >
This is a business concept that aims to realize clothing circulation by collecting used wool-blend clothing from companies and schools using uniforms, and having Nikke and other group companies involved in distribution and manufacturing cooperate. By creating a circle of circulation among all participating members, risks such as variations in collection volume, delivery times, and quality are dispersed, and technologies for realizing a circular society are shared, aiming to promote environmental conservation activities.
