NIJIN Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Koto Ward, Tokyo; Representative Director: Tatsuro Hoshino), which operates the alternative school for truant students "NIJIN Academy," will hold a summer school for elementary and junior high school students titled "A Grand Adventure Summer School Exploring Sapporo" for three days from July 30 (Thu) to August 1 (Sat), 2026.

This program is an experiential program designed to help children discover their "likes" and "interests" through food education, science experiments, exploring the Hokkaido University campus, and climbing Mt. Moiwa. Through the three approaches of "Eating, Thinking, and Climbing," we will deliver a grand summer adventure that helps children realize "what excites them" and open new doors.

In recent years, the number of elementary and junior high school students who are truant has continued to break records, making it an urgent task for society as a whole to create diverse learning environments and places of belonging. Summer vacation, in particular, is a precious opportunity for children who usually spend their time at home to "become a little more active than usual." However, it is also a delicate period when anxiety about returning to school and emotional fluctuations tend to increase towards the end of summer vacation (such as the new school term in September).

NIJIN Academy has planned an experiential program, which can also be attended by parents and children, to lower the psychological hurdles for these children and make it a place where anyone can take a step forward with peace of mind. "Success experiences" and "stimulation of intellectual curiosity" outside of school foster children's self-esteem and serve as a psychological safety net to resolve isolation and anxiety after summer vacation.

POINT 1 | Encountering Everyday Wonders with Food and Science (July 30)

Through making summer vegetable pizza and cool experiments, we will broaden interest in food and science.

POINT 2 | Exploring "Learning Environments" Like a University (July 31)

We will foster intellectual curiosity by walking around the vast Hokkaido University campus and experiencing nature, history, and buildings.

POINT 3 | Discovering Your Own Excitement in Nature (August 1)

Through climbing Mt. Moiwa, children will experience the joy of physical activity and discover their interest in nature with a nature guide.

From September 2024, we have also provided a place to learn in person, with 41 schools planned or currently open.
