[Online Event on 6/12] Online Lecture for Those Struggling with School Non-attendance

NIJIN Academy, an alternative school for students who do not attend school, operated by NIJIN Inc., will hold an online lecture titled 'School Non-attendance, Despair, and Finding Passion: A Singer-Songwriter Reflects on the Past and Present' on June 12, 2026, at 7:00 PM. The guest speaker will be singer-songwriter HIRAI, who herself experienced school non-attendance. The event is open to students currently struggling with school, their parents, and educators. Participation is free via the metaverse school building (advance registration required).

■ Background: Reaching Isolated Children with the Message 'You Are Not Alone'
As the number of students who do not attend school continues to hit record highs, creating safe spaces and providing emotional care for children struggling with isolation and conflict has become an urgent task.
In this lecture, HIRAI, who overcame school non-attendance during junior high school to become a successful singer-songwriter with over 32,000 social media followers, will speak openly about her struggles and the process of finding her way back to herself through music. She hopes to deliver hope and the message 'You are not alone' to students and parents currently facing similar difficulties.

HIRAI / Singer-Songwriter
Born in Shiga Prefecture and based in Tokyo. HIRAI experienced school non-attendance in junior high and found salvation in music. She moved to Tokyo in 2021 after realizing she could express her feelings honestly through singing. Her singing videos posted on TikTok while she was in beauty school gained attention. She balanced her career as a hairdresser with her music career until she started working full-time on her music in late 2023. Her total social media followers exceed 32,000. Her first original song, 'Muchis' (Ignorance), has garnered significant support as a message to her past self and others experiencing similar challenges.

The isolation and pain I felt during my school non-attendance period still remain strongly within me. Opened in September 2023, this is an alternative school for elementary, junior high, and high school students who do not attend school or struggle to fit into traditional environments. It features interactive online classes and project-based learning connected to businesses and society. As of April 2026, over 750 students from across the country have enrolled to learn in their own way.
