"Tanabata Decorations" Bearing the Wishes of Guests from Japan and Abroad

Since their installation on June 30, vibrant bamboo decorations have appeared in our hotel lobby, delighting many guests from both Japan and abroad. From the first day of installation, guests staying at the hotel or dining at our restaurants have been writing their wishes on tanzaku strips and tying them to the bamboo. These decorations, adorned with wishes from people across borders in languages such as Japanese, English, and Korean, have become a warm spot symbolizing the beginning of summer at our hotel.

"Safflower" from Yamagata

Vibrant safflowers from Yamagata have been arranged in the lobby and at Japanese restaurant "Hirakawa." The vibrant colors of the safflower, heralding the arrival of early summer, harmonize beautifully with the green of the Tanabata decorations, further enhancing the seasonal atmosphere.

These safflowers, delivered from the rich nature of Yamagata, will welcome our guests with coolness and splendor.

【Flower of Yamagata Prefecture: Safflower】 Safflower is an annual plant of the Asteraceae family, originating from the Middle East. Seeds are sown in spring, and the flowers begin to bloom around the time of Hansho (currently July 1), reaching full bloom by mid-July. Red pigment is extracted from these beautiful flowers to create "beni-mochi," a raw material for dyes.

Safflower has been produced in Yamagata Prefecture since the late Muromachi period, and in the Edo period, it was highly praised, with the saying, "Safflower from Mogami, Yamagata is the finest." The traditional safflower production in the Mogami River basin was certified as a Japan Heritage in February 2019. This certification has fostered pride in the value of safflower and a momentum to pass it on to the future. (Quoted from the Yamagata Prefecture Safflower Promotion Council)

Restaurant Decorations to Feel the "Power" of Summer with Coolness and Color

In each of our restaurants, we welcome guests with decorations themed around "Oriental" and "Summer," using cool greens and colorful flowers full of summer's energy.

【Dining Cafe "Beltempo"】 Decorative Items: Bougainvillea and other tropical flowers, tropical leaves, etc.

Decorations evoking "Oriental" and "Summer" have appeared on the buffet island, around pillars, and on shelves at "Beltempo." Colorful flowers arranged in gold vessels and tropical greenery add a vibrant touch to the interior. It's a display full of energy that can be enjoyed from any angle.

【Japanese Restaurant "Hirakawa"】 Decorative Items: Ferns, lotus, enkodutsu, etc.

At "Hirakawa," we present refreshing decorations that cherish a Japanese aesthetic.

Moss balls (image), lotus flowers floating in a water basin, and enkodutsu arranged in black pottery create a serene and cool space that makes you forget the hustle and bustle of the city. Additionally, safflowers from Yamagata will adorn the entrance with splendor.
