Mesm Tokyo, Autograph Collection to Host Summer Vacation Evening Workshop "Touch Tokyo's Sea and Tidal Flats with Five Senses - Learning About the Present State of Tokyo Bay Through Food and Blue Seafood" on August 2, 2026

Mesm Tokyo, a modern luxury hotel that resonates with Tokyo's dynamism and wavelength, offering creative experiences in a sophisticated atmosphere (1-10-30 Kaigan, Minato-ku / General Manager Hisashi Inuma), will host a summer vacation evening workshop for families on Sunday, August 2, 2026, titled "Touch Tokyo's Sea and Tidal Flats with Five Senses - Learning About the Present State of Tokyo Bay Through Food and Blue Seafood."

This event is a one-day experiential program co-hosted by Mesm Tokyo with "Sailors for the Sea Japan Branch," an international NGO working to improve the marine environment, and "Shibata Town Design," which promotes community development centered around Waters Takeshiba. It offers an ideal summer vacation experience, allowing participants to not only "see" the sea but also to "learn," "taste," and "touch" it, all within the city center.

The program consists of three parts. The first part features an environmental lecture for children about the global marine environment and the current state of Tokyo Bay. Participants will deepen their understanding of the challenges facing our local seas and actions they can take in their daily lives to protect the future of the ocean. The second part will feature a special menu prepared by Mesm Tokyo's Executive Chef (Culinary Meister), Konomi Kumamoto, using "Blue Seafood*1." While savoring the blessings of the sea, participants will engage in a unique educational experience at Mesm Tokyo, learning through their five senses how choosing "Blue Seafood" contributes to marine environmental conservation. In the third part, participants will move to the tidal flats of Waters Takeshiba, located right in front of the hotel, to observe the diverse creatures and plants that inhabit there. By directly experiencing the nature remaining in the urban waterside, the program aims to provide an opportunity to re-evaluate Tokyo Bay as a more familiar presence.

Since its opening in 2020, Mesm Tokyo has continuously pursued initiatives that provide learning and experiences related to environmental protection and sustainability, in line with its brand concept of "TOKYO WAVES," in close collaboration with the local community. This tidal flat event, now in its fourth iteration, combines "lectures," "food education," and "fieldwork" to offer families a special summer moment to proactively consider the future of Tokyo's seas and the planet.

For this event, ingredients listed in the "Blue Seafood Guide Tokyo Edition 2026," which lists sustainable seafood based on the UN FAO's "Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries," will be used.

With instructors from Sailors for the Sea Japan Branch, we will provide an easy-to-understand explanation for children about the challenges facing the world's oceans and the current situation in Tokyo Bay. Starting with "What is Blue Seafood?" and "What can we do to protect the sea?", parents and children will think together about the future of the ocean.

Enjoy a special menu prepared by Mesm Tokyo's Culinary Meister, using sustainable seafood resources. While savoring the delicious food, learn how choosing the right ingredients contributes to actions that protect the sea.

In the cool evening hours, we will move to the "Takeshiba Tidal Flats" in front of the hotel to observe creatures such as fish and crabs. Experience the nature of Tokyo's sea up close, right in the heart of the city.

Under the theme of "TOKYO WAVES," Mesm Tokyo has created unique experiences where diverse content such as art, music, food, and design intersect, resonating with the culture and "wavelength" of Tokyo. Through this initiative, we aim to provide both domestic and international guests with opportunities to rediscover the "value of Tokyo" through their five senses, and will continue to develop content that contributes to the realization of a sustainable society and regional revitalization.

About Sailors for the Sea Japan Branch

Sailors for the Sea is an NGO established in 2004 by David Rockefeller, Jr., heir to the Rockefeller family, with the aim of improving the marine environment. Its US headquarters merged with Oceana, the world's largest marine environmental NGO headquartered in Washington D.C., in 2018.

The Japan branch, chaired by Ms. Minako Iue, was established in 2011. It operates independently as a Japanese general incorporated association and has an affiliate agreement with Oceana.
