L'Oréal Group (headquartered in Paris), the world's largest cosmetics company, announced on June 18 local time the renewal and strengthening of its Climate Emergency Relief Fund. By committing an additional €20 million by 2030, L'Oréal reaffirms its unwavering determination to support and contribute to the world’s most vulnerable communities facing disasters driven by intensifying climate change.

The urgency of climate-related events impacting societies and citizens has never been greater. In 2025 alone, 358 natural disasters were recorded worldwide. Human impacts are also rising: over 110 million people were affected in 2025, with 85% of these disasters linked to climate-related phenomena (storms, floods, droughts, wildfires, extreme temperatures, etc.). Against this backdrop, L'Oréal’s Climate Emergency Relief Fund is actively working to improve the situation. Since its creation in 2023, the fund has supported over 30 projects across 32 countries.

India: In partnership with HERA (formerly Climate Resilience for All) and the Self-Employed Women’s Association (SEWA), L'Oréal launched an unprecedented 'heatwave insurance program' for 50,000 women working in the informal sector. This initiative provides direct cash transfers to women during extreme heatwaves to compensate for income loss and cover medical needs, establishing a replicable global model for informal urban economies.

Peru and Ecuador: In collaboration with World Vision France, L'Oréal is supporting the development of an AI system that integrates indigenous knowledge with scientific data. This enables Amazonian communities to more accurately predict and adapt to floods and other climate threats.

Kenya: Recognizing that climate change is exacerbating a global mental health crisis, L'Oréal is partnering with Slum Dwellers International to provide educational support to 1,300 youth living in Nairobi’s vulnerable informal settlements. These young leaders receive training to run community-based mental health support programs, creating a grassroots model for building community-driven mental health resilience.

Nicolas Hieronimus, Chief Executive Officer of L'Oréal Group, said:

"Beauty, at its best, is an expression of dignity and confidence. But these mean nothing without the basic conditions for health, safety, and a decent life. This renewed commitment to the Climate Emergency Relief Fund is part of our mission to 'create the beauty that moves the world.'"

Ezgi Barcenas, Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer at L'Oréal Group, said:

"Climate change has far-reaching impacts on the environment, people’s health, livelihoods, and well-being. Building resilience is essential. We will further strengthen our ability to support communities in preparing for and recovering from climate crises by improving access to healthcare, safe water, and food security."

Backed by three years of successful field testing with partner organizations and rigorous solution validation, the fund is now moving into its next phase. By strengthening both risk prevention and emergency response, it will implement and scale proven models.

The Climate Emergency Relief Fund is central to L'Oréal’s broad ecosystem of initiatives addressing global challenges through a multi-faceted approach. This includes charitable grants (L'Oréal Women Fund and L'Oréal Climate Emergency Fund), impact investing (L'Oréal Regenerations Fund and Circular Innovation Fund), loan-based support (Solstice Fund), and L'AcceleratOR, a sustainable innovation accelerator. Together, these initiatives represent a total commitment of €415 million to date, forming the foundation of L'Oréal’s sustainability program, L'Oréal for the Future.
