IR Technical Education Research Institute will host an open seminar that provides practical knowledge and methodologies—from the fundamentals of quality assurance and quality control to initial investigations, temporary and permanent countermeasures, FMEA, and DX applications—illustrated with real-world case studies.

For manufacturers and many other enterprises, responding to quality defects is a critical issue directly linked to customer satisfaction and corporate reputation. However, initial responses upon defect occurrence, root cause analysis, planning preventive measures, and interdepartmental coordination often require situation-specific judgments and tend to heavily depend on the experience of personnel and organizations.

Moreover, effective quality response requires more than just tools like '5-Why analysis' and various management techniques. It demands a company-wide approach based on the principles of 'three actuals' (actual place, actual product, actual situation), interdepartmental communication, system development, and leveraging DX.

Course Details

This seminar systematically covers the fundamentals of quality assurance and quality control, immediate response after defect occurrence, strategies for temporary and permanent countermeasures, and preparations and interdepartmental collaboration for preventing defects. Using real failure cases from smartphone development, it addresses practical topics such as data quantification and variation analysis, dimensional defects, waterproofing failures, abnormal sounds, and glass breakage. Participants will also learn practical approaches to building systems using DX, QC process charts, and industrial engineering (IE), as well as how to drive improvements through small-scale initiatives.
