The IR Engineer Education Institute will hold a public seminar that covers the basics of hydrogen production methods and fuel cell principles and types, while also learning about the latest trends in Japan and the world, as well as challenges and prospects for introduction. Hydrogen is expected as a clean energy that "returns to water after use," but there are also topics such as project cancellations and withdrawals overseas, making it difficult to correctly grasp the actual situation and future potential. In addition, differences in approaches between Japan and overseas complicate judgment. This seminar provides an opportunity to organize the latest situation from both "expectations and challenges" along with the basics of technology, and deepen understanding.

Course Details

In this seminar, after organizing the basics of hydrogen (characteristics, uses) and manufacturing methods, fuel cell principles and types (PEFC/SOFC), we will understand the mechanisms of Ene-Farm, FCV, hydrogen stations, etc. with concrete examples. Furthermore, we will compare domestic trends by application and the latest global trends in Japan, EU, USA, China, Korea, etc., and learn from challenges to future prospects in a series.

Seminar Program

### I. Basics - Basics of hydrogen: Why hydrogen? / Characteristics / Uses / About ammonia - Basics of fuel cells and fuel: Principles and structure / Types and characteristics / Characteristics and challenges of PEFC and SOFC - Specific examples: Mechanism of Ene-Farm, characteristics of FCV, methods and components of hydrogen stations - Hydrogen production methods / Related laws and regulations

### II. Trends - Current status and trends of fuel cells by application in Japan (Ene-Farm, FCV, buses/trucks, forklifts, railways/aviation/ships, etc.) - Current status and trends of hydrogen in Japan (hydrogen stations, hydrogen power generation, water electrolysis devices, etc.) - Latest trends in Japan and the world (EU, Germany, USA, China, Korea, etc.) - Challenges and prospects of fuel cells and hydrogen - Q&A
