IR Gijutsusha Kyoiku Kenkyujo to Hold Basic Japanese Medical Writing Course to Prepare for the Generative AI Era

IR Gijutsusha Kyoiku Kenkyujo will hold a seminar to cultivate the "self-checking ability" that is increasingly demanded in the era of generative AI. The seminar will systematically organize the factors that make Japanese ambiguous and the basic rules of writing, and through seven practical proofreading exercises, participants will learn to acquire a QC (Quality Control) perspective for documents and practical improvement procedures.

In the fields of pharmaceutical development and medical/pharmacological sciences, there has always been a demand for accurate and unambiguous document creation, such as clinical trial-related documents, application materials, and medical papers. On the other hand, Japanese has a characteristic of being prone to ambiguous expressions, making systematic understanding and training indispensable for maintaining clarity, consistency, and conciseness in writing. In recent years, with the widespread use of generative AI, the importance of "self-checking ability (QC perspective)" has been increasing.

Course Details:

This seminar focuses on medical writing, which is essential for various documents related to pharmaceutical development. First, it covers the "characteristics of Japanese" and then teaches the rules necessary for unambiguous writing. Subsequently, it organizes points that are often confusing in practice, such as consistency in notation, conciseness, particles, sentence structure, conjunctions, punctuation, and medical notation (symbols, units, spaces, etc.). Finally, through practical proofreading exercises using examples, participants will acquire the basics of QC checks and document improvement procedures.
