Nihon Chouzai Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO: Kazunori Mitsugi), which provides new value for pharmacies, is pleased to announce that its internship program for pharmacy students implemented in FY2025, 'MIRAI-DESIGN Project by Nihon Chouzai - Career Design Program to Draw the Future -', has been selected as a 'Student Recommended Program' at the 9th 'Career Design Program Award for Students' (supported by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Nikkei Inc., and Mynavi).
The 'Student Recommended Program' of this award was selected through a rigorous screening process by the student committee and selection committee from a total of 1,343 programs submitted this year. This is the second consecutive year, following last year, that Nihon Chouzai's internship program has been selected. We interpret this result as high praise from a student perspective for our company's sincere attitude towards students' career formation.
■ Program Theme: 'A Pharmacist's New Career Design Facing Japan's Medical Issues'
Modern Japan, which has entered a super-aging society, faces various challenges such as soaring medical costs, a lack of financial resources, and a shortage of medical workers, and there is a growing possibility that 'medical care taken for granted today' will no longer be available in the future.
Our company links the efforts of the frontline pharmacy departments and corporate office departments to prepare career paths where pharmacists can utilize their expertise to solve Japan's medical issues, such as medical DX, advanced pharmaceutical management, and sustainability.
We planned this program with the hope that pharmacy students who will support the future of Japan through 'medicine' will draw a career design that includes not only a 'career in the frontline pharmacy' but also a 'career in the corporate office department' that creates new systems, institutions, and services, leading to self-realization and social contribution.
■ Improvement Activities and Ingenuity in This Year's Program
In this year's program, we implemented the following ingenious measures so that students can have a broader perspective.
1. Expansion to '13 Courses in Total' to Interact with Diverse Talent and Broaden Career Images
We expanded the number of courses from 9 last year to 13 and renewed the content to meet students' needs. In addition to corporate office department courses such as 'Training Planning,' 'Sales,' and 'Sustainability Management,' we prepared courses that touch on the expertise of the frontline, such as 'Specialized Certification' and 'Community Medicine.' We provided opportunities to interact with many employees regardless of department or tenure, ranging from young employees in their 1st or 2nd year to mid-level employees, department heads, and presidents of group companies, conveying a wide range of career possibilities and their relevance to the frontline.
2. 'Thorough Individual Feedback' to Draw a Convincing Career Vision
In order to connect the students' own 'Will' (what they want to be) with a wide range of career options, we emphasized a process of deeply understanding students' values and strengths through interviews after the work experience and carefully proposing 'customized career visions' tailored to individual goals. This strengthened our support for students to independently take action towards long-term self-realization.
■ A Program Emphasizing the Attitude as a Medical Professional and the Significance of Connecting with Society
In the Nihon Chouzai Group Philosophy, we set 'Facing the "living" of all people' as 'Our Mission.' No matter what department we work in, we must not forget that there is always a 'person' to be saved at the end of our efforts.
At our company, you can envision various pharmacist careers involved in the entire medical world. However, the foundation of diverse careers is the experience at the frontline pharmacy, which is the first career. We believe that the experience of sincerely facing patients and consumers in front of you at the frontline is the very nourishment that cultivates a multifaceted perspective for solving future medical issues. In this program, while presenting various career paths, we consistently conveyed the importance of 'facing' people at the frontline pharmacy first.
In addition, through explanations by board members and outcome presentation sessions after the work experience, we provided opportunities to grasp the scale that one's career plays a part in changing the mechanisms of society.
Through this program, Nihon Chouzai will support pharmacy students not only to choose an industry or a place of employment but also to draw a career vision with a broadened perspective on contributing to Japan's medical care, and will continue to contribute to the development of human resources who will bear the future of Japan's medical care.
