Nichii Holdings Revises Retirement and Re-employment Systems, Allowing Employees to Work Until 85

Nichii Holdings Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Sota Nakagawa) revised its retirement and post-retirement re-employment systems, effective April 1, 2026. These revisions apply to employees of Nichii Holdings and Nichii Gakkan Co., Ltd., which operates medical, nursing care, and childcare services nationwide. The revision aims to enhance the value provided to customers and local communities by allowing human resources, a core strength of Nichii, to continue contributing. The background for this revision includes Japan's aging population, with approximately 29% of the population aged 65 or older, leading to severe labor shortages. By April 2025, securing employment for individuals up to 65 years old will be fully mandatory, and efforts to secure employment up to 70 years old will be encouraged. Key points of the revision include raising the retirement age from 60 to 65, enabling new hires up to 75 years old, extending the re-employment period to a maximum of 85 years, and abolishing uniform salary reductions based on age if working conditions remain unchanged. The age limit for the career advancement system has also been removed.
