Nichibei Japanese Language Institute (Abbreviation: NICHIBEI, Location: 1-6-2 Yotsuya, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, Founder: The International Education Promotion Society) has obtained certification as a "Designated Japanese Language Educational Institution (Study Abroad Field)" as stipulated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), effective April 30, 2026. This certification is granted only to institutions that meet multifaceted requirements, including educational quality, operational transparency, and visualization of learning outcomes. What is a Designated Japanese Language Educational Institution?

Designated Japanese Language Educational Institutions were established based on the Act on the Regulation of Japanese Language Education Institutions (April 2024).

A "Designated Japanese Language Educational Institution" is an educational institution certified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as a Japanese language educational institution that meets certain standards regarding faculty and staff, facilities and equipment, and curriculum. This system, established in 2023, replaces the previous "Ministry of Justice Notification Schools" and is a system where MEXT reviews and certifies the quality of education and operational structure. Certified institutions are required to provide more reliable Japanese language education while ensuring the quality of education and continuously improving the learning environment.
