Nichibei Kaiwa Gakuin is an English language school located in Yotsuya, Shinjuku-ku, which opened in 1945 and will celebrate its 80th anniversary in 2025.
1. Our Dream: A World of Connected Hearts, Beyond English
Nichibei Kaiwa Gakuin's dream is to achieve true international mutual understanding, where individuals can master language as a tool and engage in dialogue with people from diverse backgrounds.
It's a future where everyone can acquire "living language" that they can continue to use in any situation in life, connecting with anyone around the world. A warm future where our students enrich their lives with their own words, and everyone can connect their hearts. This is the vision of "true international mutual understanding" that we envision.
2. The Background of Our Dream: The "Will" of 3,000 People Who Rushed to Marunouchi in 1945
In the summer of 1945, in post-war Tokyo, an English language school was established at the request of the government to foster global talent.

On August 16, 1945, the day after the end of the war, founder Tomio Muto desperately raised funds and rented a room in the Naigai Building in Marunouchi.
The founder advocated the founding principle: "Smooth communication between Japanese and Americans is most crucial for the reconstruction of our nation and contribution to world peace. This can only be achieved by teaching English conversation to Japanese people and Japanese conversation to Americans."
Surprisingly, despite it being a time when food was scarce, over 3,000 people flocked to apply for a mere 100-person capacity. In 80 years since its opening, the school has produced approximately 150,000 graduates.
In 1967, the long-desired Nichibei Kaiwa Gakuin Japanese Language Institute was established, producing over 9,000 graduates from more than 90 countries and regions. Today, people from diverse cultures continue to learn Japanese there.
3. Roadmap to 2045 for Realizing Our Dream
AI has broken down language barriers. However, we believe that only "human dialogue" can bridge the distance between hearts.
Reading subtle facial expressions, laughing together at cultural differences, expanding empathy. Precisely because technology handles efficiency today, we want to use language as a tool for warm, human dialogue.
We will accelerate concrete steps to expand the circle of dialogue.
・ Support students in acquiring language skills to navigate complex international situations on an equal footing.
・ Contribute to making Yotsuya, our long-standing base, an "intersection of knowledge" where people of all nationalities and generations can weave the future.
・ Leverage our global network of approximately 150,000 graduates to support a society where everyone can connect through language.

Language is not a weapon, but a means to connect hands.
Without letting the prayer-like wish of 1945 fade, our dream is to continue fostering individuals who contribute to connecting people and building a peaceful future.
