## 1. Our Dream: A Heart-to-Heart World "Beyond" English
The dream of the Japan-America Conversation Institute is to realize true international mutual understanding, where people can master language as a tool and converse with those from different backgrounds.

Equipping every individual with "living words" that they can continue to use in any life situation, connecting them with someone anywhere in the world. A warm future where students color their lives richly with their own words, and everyone can connect heart-to-heart. That is the vision of "true international mutual understanding" we envision.

## 2. Background of the Dream: The "Will" of 3,000 People Who Flooded Marunouchi in 1945
In the summer of 1945, in post-war Tokyo, an English school was established at the request of the government to cultivate global talent.

On August 16, 1945, the day after the war ended, founder Tomio Muto desperately raised funds and rented a room in the Naigai Building in Marunouchi.

The founder proclaimed the founding philosophy: "Smooth communication of intentions between Japanese and American people is most essential for the reconstruction of our country and contribution to world peace. We can only achieve this by teaching English conversation to Japanese people and imparting Japanese conversation to American people who are worthy of this cause."

Surprisingly, despite it being an era where even food was scarce, over 3,000 people rushed for a capacity of just 100 students. In the 80 years since its opening, it has produced approximately 150,000 graduates.

In 1967, the long-desired Japan-America Conversation Institute Japanese Language Training Institute was established, producing over 9,000 graduates from more than 90 countries and regions. Even today, people from diverse cultures continue to learn Japanese here.
