Live Broadcast on the Completion of the Main Tower 'Tower of Jesus' at the World Heritage Site 'Sagrada Familia' (Airing on the Night of June 11)

The Sagrada Familia in Spain, a World Heritage Site designed by the architectural genius Antoni Gaudí, has been under construction for over 140 years. NHK has been closely documenting the construction process over a long period. We are pleased to announce a live broadcast program to coincide with the completion of the main tower, the 'Tower of Jesus.'

(Overview) The main tower, the 'Tower of Jesus,' will finally be completed in June 2026. On June 10, the anniversary of Gaudí's death, Pope Leo XIV will visit to hold a mass and ceremony commemorating the tower's completion and the 100th anniversary of Gaudí's death. The following day, June 11, NHK has been specially permitted to broadcast live from inside the cathedral where the solemn mass was held. The 'Tower of Jesus,' finally completed, carrying on Gaudí's vision. During the broadcast, we will hear from Chief Architect Jordi Faulí, who has dedicated his life to the tower's construction. Furthermore, with special permission, we will offer a panoramic view of Barcelona from the cathedral roof, 54 meters above the ground. The program will also feature extensive video footage of the mass and ceremony from the previous day.
