Three years have passed since the conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) broke out on April 15, 2023.

In Sudan, which is facing a humanitarian crisis described as "the world's worst," approximately 14 million people have been forced to flee domestically and internationally since the conflict began, and 11 million people are still unable to return. Tens of thousands to potentially up to 400,000 casualties are estimated, and famines have been confirmed in the Darfur and Kordofan regions.

Three years is a long time. There are children who have grown up deprived of educational opportunities. People have been driven from their homes, lost family and loved ones, separated without saying goodbye, and had their livelihoods taken away.

A background that prolongs this suffering is foreign involvement, such as military support for the RSF by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and others, but this is hardly known in Japan.

To ensure that the voices from Sudan are heard and widely disseminated, an NGO working in the field will hold a statement announcement and press conference.

We will clearly explain what is happening in Sudan and what we can do, even for those encountering this for the first time. We will also implement an action where participants fold origami hibiscus flowers, write messages on them, and then affix them to a large backing board.
