As summer approaches, a small worry that crosses our minds is, 'What should I do about my swimsuit this year?'

The beach and pool are fun, but when it comes to choosing a swimsuit, there are many things to consider, from design and price to one's own body shape.

At such times, many of us might find ourselves thinking, 'I wish I looked as good in a swimsuit as that person,' and picturing our favorite celebrity.

So, this time, in collaboration with the party dress and mini dress mail-order site Tika, we conducted a survey on 'Swimsuit Aspirations and Trends' targeting 1000 men and women nationwide.

Yui Aragaki took first place. Voices mentioning her good atmosphere, such as 'wholesome,' 'clean image,' and 'very likable,' were prominent. It seems her approachability and the comfortable feeling she exudes, in addition to her great figure, are reasons for her selection.

Haruka Ayase was in second place. Keywords like 'translucent' and 'healthy' were common. In addition to her beautiful skin and great figure, her cheerful personality, described as having a 'lovely smile' and being 'fun to be with,' seems to have boosted her support.

Kasumi Arimura ranked third. Simple evaluations like 'cute' and 'beautiful' were received. Her soft and gentle impression, such as 'seems quiet and calm,' also appears to be perceived as a charm.

Ryohei Suzuki took first place. Voices mentioning seeing his toned body through his drama roles were prominent. The comment evaluating the 'just right' quality, 'toned, but not overly muscular,' was also impressive.

Tied for third place was Yoshio Kojima. The very image familiar from TV, 'when you think of swim trunks, you think of him,' became the reason for his selection. Evaluations of his toned abs also seem to have boosted his support.

Also tied for third place was Nakayama Kinnikun. Praise for his thoroughly trained body, such as 'looks good in shorts' and 'magnificent muscles,' was common. There were also voices from his peers feeling he is 'even more amazing,' and many seem to admire his effort.

Ren Meguro (Snow Man) was in fifth place. Voices mentioning his charm unique to his height, such as 'tall' and 'has a great figure,' were prominent. Support from the younger generation was particularly noticeable.

■ 57.7% answered that 'body-shaping ability' is the most important point when buying or wearing a swimsuit.

Finally, we asked women in their 20s to 40s what the most important point is when buying or wearing a swimsuit.

The most common answer was 'body-shaping ability (makes problem areas look good)' at 57.7%. This was followed by 'design trend (this year's popular design)' at 13.5%, and 'price (cost performance)' and 'functionality (ease of movement, quick-drying, etc.)' both at 9.9%.

We asked for the reasons for each answer, and here are some of them:

Those who answered 'body-shaping ability (makes problem areas look good)':

- 'It would be great if it could lower the barrier to wearing a swimsuit.' (Female, 20s)

- 'Because I can't swim or relax if I can't hide the parts I want to hide.' (Female, 30s)

- 'I'm originally a bit chubby, so I'd be happy with a design that covers me up.' (Female, 40s)

Those who answered 'design trend (this year's popular design)':

- 'Because I want to walk around the beach or pool in something trendy.' (Female, 20s)

- 'Because I like things with good design.' (Female, 30s)

- 'I want to look cool with good comfort and design.' (Female, 40s)

Those who answered 'price (cost performance)':

- 'I'll only wear it for a short time, so I don't want to spend too much money.' (Female, 30s)

- 'Because food costs are high, I can't afford to spend much on a swimsuit.' (Female, 30s)

- 'Because I don't think I'll use it many times.' (Female, 40s)

It is clear that when choosing a swimsuit, not only appearance but also whether one can feel secure while wearing it is important. Particularly from those who chose 'body-shaping ability,' voices saying that being able to hide problem areas alleviates the anxiety of wearing a swimsuit were prominent.

On the other hand, those who prioritize trends and design seem to have a strong desire to look fashionable at the beach or pool. Also, from those who prioritize price, practical opinions were seen, such as wanting to keep costs down as much as possible because the number of times it will be worn is limited.

■ Summary

In this survey, Yui Aragaki gathered the most support as the 'female celebrity who looks good in a swimsuit,' and Ryohei Suzuki as the 'male celebrity with a cool physique.'

Looking at the reasons for their selection, it is clear that in addition to their great figures, their unique atmospheres, such as 'healthy,' 'clean image,' and 'approachable,' are also evaluated.

On the other hand, when it comes to choosing their own swimsuits, more than half cited 'body-shaping ability' as the most important point. There seems to be a slight difference between the perspective of looking at an admired figure and the practical perspective of wearing a swimsuit oneself.

Perhaps having a piece that makes you look good in your problem areas can lower the hurdle to wearing a swimsuit. This summer, why not find a favorite that you can get along with your body shape and enjoy your time at the beach or pool?
