■ 49.3% Answered 'Shinto Style' for Wedding Style
First, we asked about the wedding style they held or idealize.
The most common answer was 'Shinto style' at 49.3%.
This was followed by 'Chapel style (Church style)' at 28.3% and 'Public style (Non-religious)' at 11.7%.
Combined, Shinto and Chapel styles accounted for nearly 80% of the results.
We also asked for the reasons behind choosing each style, and here are some of them.
Those who answered 'Shinto style'
- Because I had a strong attachment to the Japanese style. (Female in her 40s)
- I wanted to have a traditional Japanese wedding. (Male in his 40s)
- Because the Japanese atmosphere was nice. (Male in his 40s)
Those who answered 'Chapel style (Church style)'
- Because I had longed for it since I was a child. (Female in her 20s)
- Because the atmosphere of the church was nice (the blue carpet was lovely). (Female in her 30s)
- Because I wanted to make it a memorable, proper wedding. (Male in his 30s)
Those who answered 'Public style'
- Because I didn't like the Shinto style. (Female in her 30s)
- Because it is not bound by religion. (Male in his 30s)
- Because my wife wanted it. (Male in his 40s)
Looking at the answers, many people seem to have chosen a style based on 'longing' or 'good atmosphere.' On the other hand, some chose based on religious views, freedom, or the desire to leave a lasting memory.
In particular, voices regarding 'longing' and 'church atmosphere' stood out among those who chose the Chapel style. From those who chose the Shinto style, many emphasized 'attachment to the Japanese style' and 'Japanese atmosphere.'
Wedding styles may reflect not only visual preferences but also the values the couple wishes to cherish.
■ 48.0% Answered 'Food and Drinks' as Production Focus
Next, we asked about the points they particularly focused on or wanted to focus on in the wedding production.
The most common was 'Food and drinks' at 48.0%.
This was followed by 'Gifts/hospitality for guests' at 27.0% and 'Wedding dress/attire' at 23.0%.
The top-ranked 'Food and drinks' and 'Gifts/hospitality for guests' can both be considered productions aimed at the guests. It suggests that many people emphasize not only making themselves look glamorous but also pleasing the guests who came.
A wedding is a day when the couple is the main character, but it is also a place to express gratitude to those who have supported them. Such feelings may be reflected in the focus on food and hospitality.
■ 31.3% Answered 'Do Not Particularly Expect Customization' from the Venue
Next, we asked what degree of customization/freedom they expect from the venue to express 'their own style.'
The most common answer was 'Do not particularly expect customization' at 31.3%. This was followed by 'Sufficient if a certain degree of customization is possible' at 31.0% and 'Good if there is freedom to choose within basic plans' at 30.7%.
These three were almost tied.
On the other hand, only 7.0% answered 'Expect high customization to decide everything freely.'
What many people are looking for is a moderate degree of freedom, such as 'can choose to some extent' or 'can adjust within the basic plan.' Many may think it is enough to express their own style within a prepared framework rather than facing the difficulty of building from scratch.
■ 29.7% Answered 'Polite and Compassionate Meetings' as Expected Staff Support
Finally, we asked what support they expected most from the venue staff to realize their ideal wedding.
The most common was 'Polite and compassionate meetings' at 29.7%.
This was followed by 'Flexible response according to budget' at 27.3% and 'Progression and adaptability on the day' at 18.0%.
We asked for the reasons for each answer, and here are some of them.
Those who answered 'Polite and compassionate meetings'
- Because it's a once-in-a-lifetime event, I want it to be satisfactory. (Female in her 20s)
- Because a company that listens carefully during meetings is trustworthy. (Female in her 30s)
- Because there are many things I don't understand, I want them to consult with me compassionately. (Female in her 40s)
Those who answered 'Flexible response according to budget'
- Because I want them to propose flexible plans to fulfill our wishes within a limited budget. (Male in his 30s)
- Because a wedding commensurate with the budget is ideal. (Female in her 40s)
- Because it is important how good a thing can be made within the budget. (Female in her 40s)
Those who answered 'Progression and adaptability on the day'
- Progression is the most important. (Female in her 30s)
- Because the actual day is more important than anything else. (Female in her 40s)
- Because time is limited, I think it is important that the progression is smooth. (Female in her 40s)
Voices of anxiety such as 'Because it's my first time' and 'Because there are many things I don't understand' stood out.
For many people, a wedding is not something they experience many times in their lives.
Because they proceed with preparations while there are many things they don't understand, the presence of staff who listen compassionately and guide them politely likely leads to great peace of mind.
Also, the fact that 'Flexible response according to budget' ranked second suggests that many people want staff to be close to both their desire to fulfill their wishes and their financial anxieties. Whether or not they can make convincing proposals within a limited budget seems to be a key point in choosing a venue that can be trusted.
■ Summary
In this survey, 49.3% chose 'Shinto style' as their ideal wedding style. In addition, regarding production, voices emphasizing items to please the guests, such as 'Food and drinks' and 'Gifts/hospitality for guests,' stood out.
Regarding the customization expected from the venue, the results showed that many people desire a moderate degree of freedom, such as 'can choose to some extent' or 'can adjust within the basic plan,' rather than wanting to decide everything freely.
Furthermore, 'Polite and compassionate meetings' was chosen the most as the support expected from venue staff. Because a wedding is a first-time experience for many, a presence that proceeds while being close to their anxieties and questions seems to be sought after.
For those considering a wedding in the future, putting their ideals into words once and choosing a venue that carefully receives those thoughts may lead to a satisfying day.
