■ What is the 'Truly Important Point' When Choosing a BBQ Grill?

As the BBQ season approaches, more people are likely considering purchasing a grill.

However, when it comes to choosing one, there are many types available, and various points to compare, such as size, price, and fuel type. Furthermore, it is not uncommon to hear people say that actual BBQs were 'harder than expected.'

Therefore, in collaboration with LOGOS' web content for outdoor beginners, 'Mame Chishiki (Trivia)', we conducted a survey on the 'Actual Usage and Selection of BBQ Grills' targeting 127 men and women nationwide who answered in a preliminary survey that they 'have used or considered purchasing a BBQ grill.'

■ 21.3% Answered 'Size' and 'Price' as Top Priorities

First, we asked about the most important point when choosing a BBQ grill.

The most common answers were 'size' and 'price,' tying for first place at 21.3%.

This was followed by 'fuel type (charcoal, gas, electricity, etc.)' at 11.8%, 'safety' at 11.0%, and 'ease of assembly' at 10.2%.

It seems that a size that fits the number of users and is easy to carry, along with a price that fits the budget, are the two factors most consciously considered as the starting point for choosing a grill.

We asked for the reasons behind each answer, and here are a few:

Those who answered 'Size':
- 'Because it's no good if it's too small or too large.' (Male, 40s)
- 'I want a size that is just right for the number of people, and I also want to consider portability.' (Female, 50s)
- 'It is hard to use if it's too big.' (Female, 40s)

Those who answered 'Price':
- 'Because cost performance is important.' (Male, 40s)
- 'Because I want to keep it within my budget.' (Female, 50s)
- 'Because there is a possibility I won't use it anymore.' (Female, 50s)

Those who answered 'Fuel type (charcoal, gas, electricity, etc.)':
- 'Because if the heat is insufficient, other problems like food poisoning can occur.' (Male, 40s)
- 'I think a fuel type that is easy to use is good.' (Male, 70s)
- 'Of course, I also considered the price. I have purchased one with the premise of baking with charcoal.' (Female, 60s)

From those who emphasized size, practical reasons such as 'wanting to choose one that fits the number of participants' and 'it is hard to use if it's too big' stood out. For those who prioritized price, a focus on cost performance was evident, with reasons like 'there is a possibility I won't use it anymore' and 'wanting to keep it within budget.'

Those who focused on fuel type voiced concerns directly related to cooking results and usability, such as sufficient heating power and a preference for charcoal fires.

■ 37.8% Answered They Have 'Experienced Trouble' During a BBQ

Next, we asked if they had ever experienced trouble during a BBQ.

'Yes' was 37.8%, and 'No' was 62.2%.

Furthermore, we asked those who answered they had experienced trouble specifically what kind of trouble they had.

The most common issue was 'cleanup is hard' at 58.3%.

This was followed by 'fire starting is difficult' at 39.6%, 'adjusting the heat is difficult' at 37.5%, and 'hard to clean after use' at 35.4%, all exceeding 30%.

Items related to cleanup and cleaning ranked highest.
