A sofa is one of the pieces of furniture where people spend a long time at home.

Although it is essential for relaxation and family gatherings, how many people actually own their "ideal sofa"?

Points emphasized when choosing, such as size, seating comfort, design, and material, vary from person to person.

Therefore, this time, in collaboration with TRES THE SOFA TAILOR, we conducted a questionnaire on the "ideal sofa" targeting 300 men and women nationwide who answered "I currently use a sofa at home" in a preliminary survey.

59.7% answered that the ideal sofa is "comfortable to sit on"

First, we asked about their ideal sofa.

The most common answer was "comfortable to sit on" at 59.7%.

This was followed by "preferable design" at 8.0%, "durable for long-term use" at 7.3%, and "spacious for family use" at 6.3%.

We asked for the reasons for each answer, and here are some of them.

Respondents who answered "comfortable to sit on"

- Because I can relax very much if it is comfortable to sit on. (20s, Male)

- Because it is a sofa, I think seating comfort is the priority. Otherwise, a chair would be fine. (30s, Female)

- I think the life of a sofa is its seating comfort rather than material or design. (40s, Male)

Respondents who answered "preferable design"

- Because it changes the impression of the room. (20s, Female)

- The favorite color and seating comfort match my favorite brand. (30s, Male)

- Colors that look good in the interior. (40s, Male)

Respondents who answered "durable for long-term use"

- Previous sofas tore easily. (20s, Male)

- Because I hate it if I can't get my money's worth. (30s, Female)

- I like my current sofa, but I plan to refurbish it because the seat has worn out after nearly 10 years of use. I want to keep using it for a long time. (40s, Female)

What people expect from a sofa varies, such as appearance and durability, but the most frequently mentioned was "seating comfort". Because it is an item for relaxation, it can be seen that many people emphasize the feeling when sitting.

70.7% answered that the ideal sofa "increases time to relax"

Next, we asked how they think their lives will change by getting their ideal sofa.

The most common answer was "increases time to relax" at 70.7%.

This was followed by "time spent at home becomes comfortable" at 55.3%, "time for TV and reading becomes enjoyable" at 19.7%, and "satisfaction with interior increases" at 16.3%.

Both of the top two items are elements directly related to the time spent relaxing at home, suggesting that the ideal sofa is perceived as an entity directly linked to daily relaxation and comfortable living.

32.6% answered that their current sofa is "not close" to their ideal

Next, we asked whether the sofa they are currently using (or have used so far) is close to their ideal.

17.0% said it was "very close" and 50.3% said it was "somewhat close", meaning a total of 67.3% of respondents use a sofa close to their ideal.

On the other hand, 29.3% said it was "not very close" and 3.3% said it was "not close at all".
