■ 28.8% answered that their impression of theory lessons was "difficult"

First, we asked about their impression of theory lessons.

As a result, "difficult" was the most common at 28.8%.

This was followed by "boring" at 24.2% and "easy to understand" at 19.6%.

Combining "difficult" and "boring" accounts for more than half, indicating that many people have a negative impression of theory lessons.

We asked for the reasons for each answer, and here are some of them:

Those who answered "difficult":

・Because there were many traffic rules and types of signs, and a lot to memorize. (30s, male)

・There were more trick questions than I expected, and similar questions. (30s, female)

・It was tough because I crammed it during a training camp. (30s, female)

Those who answered "boring":

・The class was boring because I had already read the textbook completely beforehand. (20s, male)

・It was just a lot of repetitive memorization. (30s, male)

・They just read slides unilaterally. (40s, male)

Those who answered "easy to understand":

・Because they taught me carefully. (20s, male)

・The teaching materials were colorful, the paper quality was good and easy to see, and they used videos, which made it easy to understand. (30s, female)

・The instructor taught me unique tips. (30s, male)

Those who answered "difficult" often struggled with the large amount of content to memorize and trick questions, while those who answered "boring" felt unsatisfied with classes that merely read out textbooks.

On the other hand, many who answered "easy to understand" praised the ingenuity of the teaching materials and the instructors' teaching methods. It seems that even for the same "theory lessons," impressions vary greatly depending on the driving school's environment and teaching style.

■ 20.4% answered that they "have struggled" with theory lessons

Next, we asked if they had ever struggled with theory lessons.

As a result, 20.4% answered "yes" and 79.6% answered "no."

Furthermore, we asked those who answered "yes" what specific difficulties they experienced.

The most common answer was "the sheer volume of things to memorize" at 57.8%.

This was followed by "understanding the content" at 33.3% and "anxiety about tests and performance evaluations" at 29.4%.

It is clear that theory lessons tend to be burdensome due to the large amount of content to memorize and anxiety about exams.

Also, the need to quickly acquire knowledge that is slightly different from daily life, such as actual traffic rules and signs, seems to be a factor contributing to the difficulty.

■ 61.0% answered that "in-person" is better for theory lessons
